A mere slip of tongue ....

Thankfully after a rather stressfull friday we managed to have a fantastic weekend, Brief testing on Saturday led to some confusion over prop choice for sunday but all turned out ok in the end ( yes Ashleigh you were right )

Might even adjust the throttle cable before Looe and give her full throttle now im not quite so scared !

Was John eating a Burger? because from Fleet Services to the M2 junction he consumed 1 big Mac, 1 Cheese Burger, 3 Small Portions of McFries, and 2 Mc Flurries - I told him we had a bow tank but did he listen??????

Thought we had TD on board for the trip.........

I am now thinking I should have been more forceful with "the small photographer" this am.

We would have turned up at AYC in DJ's but at least we would have seen the results!

Ah by heck what a fun weekend guys. AYC just brill as always, T Bone steaks were awesome
“Frank” was great, what a fun evening. Ladies in the Kitchen excelled.
Oh the racing was good too.
I really had no idea it would be that tight, If I had I would have dropped about 4” of pitch.
Boy those OCR boats turn corners the going for a finish plan almost went out the window on one turn as it did have a flutter which was a wakeup call.
A19 & Adams boat looked super running out to East Blyth but I really needed them on the port side for the boat cam (try and post a sample in a bit)
Was no nice to see so many old faces turn up JF has mentioned a few the list was endless and a real step back in time. I bloody loved every minute they might even let Pash & I come back next year .

It's actually a brand new hull, but Jeremy did do 70 with its predecessor last year at Coniston - and well done to them!

Pretty frustrating race for us as only completed just under a lap before 'Guardian mode' - but had just got into the lead after a slow start. One of those things - but I should have got more hours in the engine before racing and also ran a lot less pitch - those turns were tight!

Anyway - many thanks to all at Allhallows - got to be the friendliest and most helpful club out there.

Very well done to Jeremy - boat looked really well set-up and ran great. Many other good performances and thsoe two Phantom 16's with 90 E-Tecs rane really strong - just showing how important it is on set-up and preparation. Great to see Ashleigh and Adrian get a string finish in their first race.

Very glad you all enjoyed our club, good to put faces to names.

Come back in a month's time for our National Championship Water Ski race: same welcome and some fantastic machinery to go with the great racing.

Programme and car park permits available from the Ski Racing section of this forum

So what was it like after such a long time, ……… bloody great fun

Think Adam & I missed the start by quite a bit, looked round & they were all heading off towards the club line at a great rate of knots. Bugger… I hit the pedal & off we went. The Midas finally got up & going, though playing with the lifter was out of the question due to the length of the leg. Manage to get it up to about 6k by the turn which I took as a large arc….oh boy it was going to be a long day for turns. Pulled like a pig out of the bottom turn & the clever was not the prop for the day or the course, just get round without making any bal*s ups. Midas quite enjoyed the run out to East Blyth (EB) I was happy to settle on the port rear quarter of A19 & Adam. That turn again hurt loads, Run in from EB to the water tower is normally a cat leg and it was pretty much the norm though again I found the cleaver shovelling the front a bit & the cross wind was a little attention getting when any decent amount of trim went in but I felt quite comfortable sitting back watching & getting the feel for an actual race after such a long time. I see Adam peel off when the engine went into “Arseho*e” mode. I mentioned it before but the boat looked really lovely running coming off of some of the waves a washes. A19 looked bloody good too. Adam had a heck of a tow from the island and I really felt for him having put in so much time and effort. Your day will come my friend & the new boat will do well, stick with it as I know how frustrating ECU modes can be (Grrrrr). At this point I kept contact with A19 but with the loss of Adam in the running order any real great motivation did drain away coupling that with me overcooking a turn at one point & nearly wearing the fashionable Midas hat I just elected to run for the finish & not break anything. Allhallows has some hard water in an Easterly and is quite effective at breaking things. I couldn’t afford a repair bill from the day so took the easy option.
OCR boats corner so well and I was impressed at each and every turn on their ability and knowledge and feel for their boats - very impressive. I could see Ash’s smile though the crash helmet every time they lapped us and foolish had a bit of a grin as well. Cakes were good to………Thank you “B” Playgroup is brill
A B23 would have been in it’s element out there and a shame that no other class III boats could make it.
Was great as I say to see so many old faces Clive Jones, SB, John Stapley, Steve Baker, Joe Marengi - turns out Peter is living by me so we will catch up soon having swapped some numbers. Budski it was driving me nuts which IIIB think it’s peter the guy sitting next to you drove, came to me as I exited the M25 M3 “ Catnic”.
There was only one person missing from the day but I sure he would have had a big smile on his face regardless.
This now brings me to the club. Grass roots racing at its very best, friendly, warm welcoming, efficient, in all aspects. This is what racing was and what it should be. The AYC should be very proud of the members and helpers as IMHO they have done the club proud.
To coin a phrase from “Frank” on Saturday night. - My way.
As a club you do your way & it works so very well. I hope you will let Martin & I run next year as I for one will make this a well worthy annual pilgrimage. Thank you AYC/SEPA for all the time & effort that was put in by so many.

And we should have been too in all fairness - with a 250 engine.

Just a real shame we could not have had a few more laps to try a few things and get used to the boat etc. Was taking things fairly safely and never really had the chance to wind things up - but still had to work to get by the Y Knot guys who were running great and also very quick in those turns. John in the cat looked so quick of the line - but if we found the turns bad it must have been painful in a 27' cat!

Anyway - onwards and more testing before the Cancer Research race

What happened to the Phantom 19 with the 'Rude on the back? That should have been going well?
