Thumbs up

Well done to all who entered!
Adam, boat looks much better in the flesh! the pics just don't do it justice!
That motor will be fine once the oil problem is sorted and when the break in time is finished you will pick up some RPM too.
The cat looked superb running into the wind.

If ya talking the one in the pic 'E10' it's not safe to race at the venue, though would have given everything a run for the money

Safe enough for a Cat with a (I'm told) tuned 2.5efi though? Don't understand? As we built the boat I am very concerned that you should say it's "not safe to race at the venue" I really want to know the whole story as I will not have anyone say that the boats we build are not safe!

What is different about this venue and a Phantom 19?

ps Everything is a winner on the trailer!

I think the general concensus was a concern about the structural integrity/safety.

It has already been beaten to death in another thread if you have a search in the Muster area.
As for the cat it complied with the entry requirements for +2.5 lts
the Phantom in question was not the correct loa but then a P21 with a 200XS or a 150 honda didn't fit the bill also. Just the way the classes were run for the event which has been a long standing format.

Jonny BF, are you not going to just edit down say the best 5 to 10 mins of quality footage (perhaps along with splitpins) and make a really watchable vid?

Whoosh thats way out of my ability MS movie maker with a soundtrack is about it. I have the first 5-6 laps from the boat cam then it looks like the Batt died. Just about to post some of Mrs Fins camera work- honest she wasn't pissed.

Had a look in the muster area and the only thread I could find was this one - http://www.boatmad.com/forum/showthr...hlight=phantom - If it's just the way the classes are why was it "Not safe to race at the venue".

Did the displacement of the etec (2.589 or 2.6) mean that it didnt fit the class given that it is a 19ft boat?

I'm with you on the "unsafe" thing though cookee! I mean, just look at F1 ski racing rigs!

Alhallows race classes

Just been reading the posts about this class thing at alhallows.

Personally, I applaud the AYC for managing to have an entry form with rules that are so simple to understand, leaves no room for 'grey areas', or people sneaking stuff in that shouldn't be there and despite differing opinions, are clearly intended to give a good, safe event.

Yes, Ski Racing sees some awsome high powered rigs, yes, the northern mob have raced with the same, but that doesn't mean it's right for this kind of event/racer, in the times we now live. If AYC were to 'give in', then an accident happened with a highly powered small boat, they'll be hauled over the coals. Try thinking of the club and it's responsibility. We live in strange times, with strange people, some of which would just love to head straight for the courthouse in such a situation. If a situation occured that resulted in AYC no longer organising races, I think that would be more of a loss to the sport that one or two people unable to race at a basic.

This is a basic entry race, with the posibility of completely inexperienced folk taking the wheel.

Writing rules is a nightmare, these are beautifully simple and promote safety.

Reading the thread about class III history, there were some very small boats running back then, but look at the size of the engines they're talking about! 55 Yams!!

AYC's event attracted 13 entries, I'd like to think maybe next time that number will be greater. If that can be achieved with the existing class definition, we should see plenty of great fun, safe racing. What's wrong with that?

If you want to race a Marshan 162 with a 300XS, go find a club stupid enough to accept your entry, don't knock this club for trying to be sensible.
