They must have been so far in the lead they slowed down to have a picnic, maybe they are practicing for Cowes-Torquay???

To be fair Bluefin & Pash did lead at the first mark after a very impressive run through the pack, unfortunately that was the only leg in to the wind that let the cat fly.
Adam did indeed have his engine go to safe mode, he was running in second place at the time with the new boat looking very good.
The race was won by a very well setup A class OCR Bernico with a very sharp sounding 130 Yam.

They did great. good steady run, looking nicely in control. An excellent first outing.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Roger Kennedy & Jonathan Stapely, and put a good few faces to names from AYC / Boatmad.
It was my first visit to Alhallows and what a great friendly club that is. nice unstressed briefing and excellent management of the boat launching. Will deffo be returning for more of the same again.
A few pics:

Blufin emerged from the start pack looking very good and quickly left the fleet, but the OCR boys were dynamite through the turns, and ran consistantly for all ten laps, where Blufin appeared to tire as the rece went on. Ultimately the winner was Jeremy Gibson in the Bernico 19/Yam 130 'Y Not', who lapped poor old blufin. A fabulous drive in a beautifuly prepared boat. Looked and sounded great.
Adams boat looked to be running very nicely until the dreaded 'Guardian mode' kicked in at the end of the 1st lap. He wasn't amused!
1) Blu-ee streaks away from the pack at the start
2) looking good
3) But Mr Gibson was looking for a fight!
4) A well deserved victory for Jeremy G in A19 and an oustanding performance with just 130hp, winning by a country mile.
5 & 6) Steve Baker joined us to inspect a few of his products and chew the fat.
After checking the HIN on Barrie Williams's 1993 P16, he declared the warranty 'lapsed'.

That Bernico must be some boat, to lap John's 100mph cat, I guess there was a problem somewhere?

Bob McCarthy was telling me that 'Y Not' ran bang on 70 on Coniston last year, but it's all about average speed innit. And this was a relatively tight course for offshore.
A couple more pics.

We had a great weekend, Allhallows is a fantastic friendly club The organisation was first class.....
We had a Mega fast start but had to slow down for the (Navigator) Me to try and light a ciggie, decided to give up at the end of the straight...... all in all a great first race for me and a welcome return for John - not a course for a large Cat as the turns were tight and the straights a bit too short (by about five miles ) but a great day
Motivator had the Gin and Tonic ready every time we passed but the fool forgot the ice......
Ashleigh and her Navigator (who ever he was) did a brilliant job and shared the champers with us and they received a rousing round of applause when towed out of the water - Well Done Ashleigh and Adrian, Breanna did a great job on the cakes for the Playgroup Away day
Adams boat looked stunning at full pelt and is a real credit to him - such a shame "Technology" let him down by going into Safe Mode
Over all we came 3rd and 1st in Class
And above all we had fun and everybody returned safely

The Bernico was great at cornering and as Jon says its the average speed that won the day... we were fast on the straights but had to take an "Interesting Line" around the corners (Dont think we hit one Apex)

Well done everyone concerned, a good day all round.
By the way, Martin, what was Rupert the Bear wearing when you borrowed his trousers today for the photos?
