From what I've read here you want a new motor but can't quite afford it, so you're looking to compromise with a 'previously loved' one instead. I get the impression you're not really happy with that compromise.

My thought would be to right-off this year (it'll be mid season by the time you get your boat sorted now anyway) and start saving your pennies. Then buy a new motor next season.

In the meantime you've got a year to get the Phantom just exactly as you want it.

Or, maybe it's none of my business!

PS: Found those brochures. Woo hoo!

Tekkin into account the 'buy new' approach, does that open any more doors, with say...nico bertels? or Nick B?

Trouble is, what would you say is the most expensive time of year to buy a boat/motor?..........yup..spring

do you think i'm some kinda ****????

1stly, they have been sold as long as i've had my boat....8 months!

2ndly, they are 200's Jon..........i though YOU SAID i should go for 225.....if 200's were ok, why arent i buying one of the 200xs's with sportsmasters & offshore mids that he has?

3rdly, no-one has anything say under £7000 new........ that i am aware of. Bearing in mind.....that kinda money means me getting heavilly in debt!

4thly, I feel like i'm pestering Neil, There was potentially a 225 opti, but i've heard nothing.

Sorry mate....that last bit was a bit rude.

Its just a tad frustrating.

I also forgot, Bernico have a '00 300PM with a standard 3.0L 225efi powerhead for £5500ish

and Dave Crawford has/had a 2001 300PM with a fecked lower unit for about £3250. I looked on S&F, seems a used one would be atleast £1000

I do think you should have as much power as possible, within reason.

BUT

you aint found anytin (and I had no idea they were already sold)

With the greatest respect your boat's never gonna be the quickest 21 around, and I didn't really think 'out n out' performance was that important to you, it certainly wasn't a few months back.

So, I reckon a new motor, even it's only 200 horse, would, at under 6k be the best possible option.

Palpatations was involved in an RTA recently and is in a bit of a state now. Apparantly they were towing it in france with a Vauxhaul Combl van and whilst passing a lorry they got a wobble on and turned it over.

I believe it pretty much needs a new top deck.
