Their is a thread about another 28'
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=186453
The guy seems really torn on if he can keep his 28' or if he can sell it due to an unfinished project, if you were that interested maybe worth bidding $32/33K to change his mind

Bigbird the second 28' Apache had been the subject of an extensive thread showing all the work done and it is considerable, it's no wonder the guy is not that keen to sell even though he seems to have run out of budget i followed the thread some time back and it was very interesting however to view the pics on Offshore you will have to join

Bigbird have you made contact yet with the guy selling yet?...his last post said he was about to list it in the classifieds and I would of thought this is not the sort of boat that would hang around for sale very long

Stupid boy!
If you wanna pay Bayliner prices, buy a Bayliner.
I could be persuaded to sell, less power, but agreed to give the Mutz Nutz first refusal some time ago.

I assume "Big Steve" will be having to write out a fairly substantial cheque if he wants to prize Leviathan away from you & put (her pride of place) in his growing stable of Phantoms!

To be fair a certain Malta boat yard has at last devloped it's own mould & hull.
Think its under powered with a large single in a 30 footer but I'm sure thats just for inital testing, Intresting lines a tad different
Link to the 2009 Malta boat yard name I cant type in
(Pic is the first trial round the lee side of Gozo)

Well, if it's not going to be beef burgers, steak prices it has to be. (fillet)
No one ever got forced to pay for anything.
My 28 is the last genuine one and was custom built for me by Steve Baker, completed in July 2000. It is full balsa-Aramat-glass build, is all original, no damage, no repairs, no changes, no paint and if I say so myself, is fitted out/rigged with slightly more than the normal 'function dictates form' ethos of the other traditional Phantom 28's out there.

As I say, if a deal were done (with anyone), nobody is being forced to do anything they don't want to.

Jon, Whats the biggest engines that would fit into your engine bay?
Not that i have the money but just wondered how fast you could make a P28 go.

I think Leviathan would go plenty fast enough with a pair of smallblocks, I.e std 6.2 325hp mercruisers............... and they'd fit in with ease.

Roger Severy has a pair of 5.7's in his, which unfortunately, he's never gotten reliable (but thats another whole story). His Phantom 28 (the last out the mould before mine), which is basically the same build schedule as mine (mine has slightly more balsa core in the outer deck etc), runs 92-93mph with circa 500hp per side.
I reckon with a pair of the now easily and cheaply available 'crate' small blocks, 85mph would be a breeze. 400+hp crate motors are about $7.5K each, plus a bit of marinizing stuff. certainly $10k per motor, turnkey for circa 400hp is available. Then you just gotta get em home in ya hand luggage.
Wiring looms etc in the boat are the standard Merc V8 petrol motor type, as are all the engine mounts etc. So would just need new tachometers, an exhaust mod to bring both exhausts out of the single 5" transom tips, and a mod to the throttle assy's, as the twin operating system (hand throttles, or foot) is custom made. Would also need a small (mebbe 5 litre) diesel tank fitted to the engine bay to run the Eberspacher central heating.
Drives are 1.36:1 ratio, so easily set up to do silly speed with petrols and sensible pitch props.

I wonder why Roger Severy never bothered to enter that great boat in the RB08. If he had made the engines more reliable and maxed out his speed at 85mph it could have been a challenging Phantom in RB2 and would have given a lot of the others a run for their money with intelligent driving. It's a shame. We do have two Phantom's running though. Maybe more next time
ML.
