Myself, Haggin, and my Driver Marc are heading to Dubai for the Class 1 Worlds next week. Are there any Boatmad members heading over there.

Sorry Stumpy, no tinnies allowed.
The Burj Al Arab does a bottle of Moet "In house" at 120 quid a pop! for those that like to indulge in French piss.
Well, Dubai is now officially more expensive than London!
I went into a Camera shop the other day to see how much the new Nikon D80 is. The bloke said they were doing the D80 with 70-135mm lens or something for . . . . . . 811.00 Quid!!!!
I checked out Jessops in the UK online and they want 750 or there abouts.
Gone are the days of bargains in dubai. Im renting a new three bed villa here, last year the rent was 18Grand sterling up front, this year it went up to 25Grand! Take it or leave it!
Really cant wait to get back home to England, just waiting for an American company to complete the purchase or our business in the Middle East and then its either home to blighty (overland in my Defender 90) or off to the States to annoy Ben for a couple of years.
God, i miss the Solent and all you crazy Boatmadders. Still, ill be on the Solent at Christmas this year.

Didn't plan on drinking in the pits, but may partake in a little alchoholic delectation at the the ROCK BOTTOM.
If I'm still standing, will venture to the Jules bar. Must work on my russian in the next few days!!!!!!!

If the Jules Bar is the one on the back of Fibbers Bar, then i think its been shut down for selling Pork Scratchins.

It's part of the Le Meridian Airport Hotel complex, just round corner from dubliners. Please don't tell me they have closed that down, I can't possibly lower myself to go to the YORK Hotel!!!!!
Are you around that weekend?

Do you mean 'Fibbers bar' as in the one in Clacton-on-sea?
Working in Clacton this week for the Woolwich, and took this pic this morning.
Looks like a 'class act'. Definitely a 'Pork Scratchings' kind'a place.

I think you might be in luck. Dubliners, your not getting confused with the "Irish Village" are you?
Should be around that weekend.
Went and watched the qualifying yesterday and had a chat with Steve Curtis. Will post some pics later.

The place is called Fibbers Magee i think, its the only non hotel bar with a drinks licence in Dubai. Its been around for about 15 to 20 years i think.
In my opinion its about as classy as that joint in Clacton Jon!
Jon, i think i saw John Burden in the crowd at the F1 Qualifying yesterday, but when i made my way over he was gone. (Assuming it was him).

We have been here for the week ...
Watched the racing today ...
1st - 77 Victory
2nd - 96 Qatar
3rd - 95 Qatar
4th - King of Shaves (Chris Parsonage and James Sheppard)
5th - Spirit of Norway - Curtis was in second place right up to the last two laps and blew an engine
Flaminia and Jotun both had serious engine problems and crawled around VERY slowly
DRV managed to turn over on the last turn of the first lap!
Pictures and video at the weekend
