Aronow 32 legacy
Does anybody have an idea as to why this Aronow 32 legacy is for sale such a long time ?
It seems that there are not much of these around?
Who can tell me something about this boat?
Its located in Poole ,and its for sale at any boat broker.

I was bought new by a guy called Malcolm Cole, and had the original 502 carb'd big blocks when they fist came out. He blew a few drives, and did some work on the motors (claiming an improvement) but don't really know how well it went.
He founded the company now owned by Simon Wood-Power (Penpromo on boatmad) who fabricate all manor of fancy bespoke Stainless & Ali marine components and fuel and water tanks.
He sold his company, retired, and moved to France I think, dunno who owns the boat now.

They said these are built like an apache, strong and a full massive laminate structure,is this true?
The 502,s are those gen5,s or bowtie 502,s ?
What happened with the company?
After Don,s death they still made boats for some years ,I,m curieus why they stopped .

To be honest, I don't know if the carb 502's were bowtie, the HP465 of the same year was, but I've no experience of the fairly rare 502 carb.
Dunno what happened to Aronow Powerboats, I thought it was continued after Aronow's death by his wife and son, but could be wrong.
One of the American members here would be a far better choice for these answers.

I thought the moulds were bought by Magic, and were being built in Lake Havasu.

OMG! if only you knew!
A genuine Typo error, honest. It should'a read 'It was bought new by a guy called Malcolm Cole'.

You were right Tony, their exactly the same.
They said they use Don Aronows molds.
Your cat ,what sort propellors are you using?
and what diameter /pitch?
And inward or outward turning?
Are you having water pressure problems too?
After installing thru sponson pick ups with check valves ,and running them to the exhaust adapter plate I,m still having low water press.
Barely 3-4 psi at full throttle.
I,m using the 2 hole CLE,s , I just bought a set 4 hole CLE,s I,m hoping to see more pressure.

I've got an old Hot Boat test on them....
my spectre runs 14.5"x 30" lab cleavers, turning out! no water problems whatsoever, best speed so far was a nats over 90.
next job is to change mid sections for offshores, and replace cmc lifters with solids!

I considered a bernico 26, saw the plug being made, and liked it alot, but the Spectre came up at the right time, at the right price, so i had to have it.
Quite fancy an AMT 30 next though!

Oh yeah ,the AMT 30 is beautiful,I saw 1 for real at Intensemarine FL with 2x 300x its not one of the lightest cats, but built strong, and good for the rough.
My Bernico is also built light,it weight 700 kilo,s bare.
I like to have a 28 skater pleasure ,as my next fast boat.
BTW I,m turning inward, and it seems to have a better topspeed
and less porpoise ,when she ,s trying to accelerate trough the enough/not enough air lift zone.
I know its more tricky than outward, but I will switch them again just to see what happens .

Supposedly, the last HP500 carb engine ever built is in DGS's HTM.

That boat 'Private Entry', owned I think by Ray Macenhill, and built by Malcolm, now belongs to Tony Hamilton. He's gonna race it in P1 under his usual name 'Dog Gone'. It's at his yard in Cowes.

Thank you JF, past it loads over, what seemed years, always used to think, who would go to the expense of building an ali boat like that and then never use it, so great to know I may well see it race at Cowes this year, looks like there will be a few british boats to cheer on

It's got loads of trick titanium bits on it as well - Tony reckons it was only raced a few times with success and then put into storage - he's got the Lambos for it as well - 2 with 2 spare!

The Ray McEnhill boat with the Cosworths was called 'Unlimited Energy'. It is now 'Mr Noisy'.
'Private Entry' now 'Dog Gone' was powered by Bonner motors I believe.
