Avenger 21 Red Devil or cordite

Hello, just in the process of of refurbishing an Avenger 21 foot called Red devil, under this ,very faintly is Cordite 088. This Avenger has at some point had lots of work carried out on her. Am just wondering if any one on here knows anything about her or even any pictures showing what she used to look like,

Hi, i,m not sure where it was brought from, but i know it was brought off Ebay and delivered down to ken a few years ago. Sounds like the same boat as it has the same volvo leg and had a bodged in rover V8. Do you have any info on this boat?

Hello, i will get some pictures when next on the boat. The boat has no windscreen as the top looks like it has had lots of work done on it, Not sure how much but the top of another more modern boat has been grafted on, you will see when i get a picture

This was posted up previously by someone else wasn't it? Claiming to be an Avenger 21 until they were corrected that it was actually a Phantom 23 with an inboard?

Check here: http://www.boatmad.com/forum/f3/earl...ard-16544.html

Is this the boat you've purchased?

avenger 21 or phantom 23

Hi Gazza boat you pitured is def avenger 21 with messed around deck cordite is a phantom 23 .I owned supersoft a lightweight 23p in 87/88 which was raced by roder clark and rebuilt her with a single merc then sold it to a freind in bournemouth it reappeared in boatmad last year for sale by a freind of drivers 510 minus her original trailer which was a work of art a complete tubelar shape of the boat but was very heavy. Great sea boat but very wet in a following sea could of made a great sub.!!!!!!

Hi , what you have here is definitely and Avenger 21, I think if your rubbed off enough paint it would be purple gelcoat and the boat was original Easy Rider raced in Class 3 during the early 70's with a Volvo 200 competition engine . In the late 70's/early 80's it was bought by a friend of mine who fitted the cockpit moulding from a Phantom 23 and fitted a Rover V8 engine. The cockpit moulding was needed as part of the deck was damaged by fire. A lot of people think it is Cordite simply due to the rover V8 , but Cordite was a Phantom 23 . Hope this helps.

Hi, yes you are correct under many coats of paint it is purple. It looks like the same Volvo leg is still on her with some sort of bell housing to couple it to the V8. At present the engine is out being rebuilt. We did think a fire might of happened as there is signs in the engine bay. Would you have any more information or pictures of it when you friend had her. Many thanks

Great pictures from Marke . I think you will find that the main part of the drive is original, 200e variant I believe , but I recall the lower unit was sourced separately - I had the original lower unit as a spare until a couple of years ago. The V8 was built by a guy called Eddie Perks who at the time worked for Piper Cams and he experimented quite a bit with exhaust and ignition systems, but much of this may have been changed since then . Not much more to tell really.

I think what happened was the original avenger was fire damaged and repaired with the top from a phantom, then it was called cordite.I know think this is the boat from the pictures above of Easy rider, Lots of it matches and the stories add up, Hope fully not too long before its in the water again.
