B23 Question...
Does anybody remember how this boat ran with the 200 on the back? Speed wise...and handling wise (due to the cut bottom for 3B)? Will the cut bottom have any adverse effect when running a >3B motor?

Not quite yet... We want to get the 150ho sorted out but it's been a constant headache from day 1. We thought we were close before the last race but once again it shut down on us. With the 200 it would be unbeatable. Always an option for Around the Island...

I know that boat had a merc put on it but I dont think it was tried with it. It ran a Tohatsu 90, then an Evinrude 115.....tis a good boat for 3B....I would think a lot of strength would be needed for 3C (or equivalent now whatever that is)

Hi Brian, yeah I think a few people thought about it but she's too light and flimsy for the weight and the grunt....by the time you put in the strength (and therefore weight) you might as well have bought a normal B23 for the merc....
It would certainly take some courage to handle it as it is with the bigger motor, in the brief time before both crew were swimmin around.....

Brian didnt sell us no slouch i tell you that! And Around the Island you will be in D-Class with the 200 to let you know so you will be leaving the same time as us...D-187.

With an XR2 not a 200XS... Stock D-Class. For now we're sticking with the 150HO though as we think it's just a fuel issue. What speeds you hitting with the 280?

There are three bat boats currently running 280s. The two 23s above and an older 22. There are lots of videos of the 22 and 23 racing from prior seasons (the black one was previously silver/red). No single outboard comes close to beating the Ocke's... The rest of this season should be interesting!

I should have added *in Bermuda..! All of the other boats that run single 280s are US designed/built. The closest thing to them in terms of speed/time are the 21 Skaters...which have historically been faster but have not beat the B23 since they really started racing here. Until somebody her proves otherwise I'll stick with the Ockes!
