I assume that's if payment is received, how about if it's done for the good of the sport?

I do like ribs very much. I am not trying to speak in a negative way about ribs. I am a rib owner myself, And I do admit that sometimes its much more pleasing driving a rib. Yes the market and the sport does need them. And for certain uses they handle hard boats's ass. Its just that i think its quite reasonable saying that the rib in terms if the inflatable tubes are less durable then hard sides. Altough its fair praising rib manufacterers for the drastic improvment in the product itself and the R&D they put in there.

Sorry to disagree, but in all of my experience in filming only the camera or crew boats need to be coded - an "Action boat" doesn't need coding as it would be impossible in most cases.

That's fully coded as we do filming on the thames. All commercial boats operating between putney and margaretness has to have someone with the lke ( local knowledge endorsement which I have). That is PLA/MCA rules. Again work on the thames so if I can help let me know.

I'm assuming Clarkson wasn't in your patch when he drove the Cougar down the Thanmes then?

He was but That was filmed before the lke was in but by commercial work I mean paying passengers, tug and tow etc. There may be a loop hole somewhere but the pla are really clamping down on things as the river is very busy with work on bridges and other work, the lke is about safety and river awareness. Ie depths, bridges, tidal sets and who's operating in what areas. If there was a film crew on chase boat with him then I would imagine that would have been coded with a skipper. But again don't know the full story for back then but this year all commercial vessels will need brew members with this. In a nut shell it's like having a pilot on board to guide boats in the port of london.

Sorry that should have said crew members but as you say cookee action boats may be exempt but it is something that should be asked about for sure. I had bbc news on last year so I would imagine that film boats have to be coded. All the best.
