It was announced on the radio today too, although I am pretty sure I had read it was going to be operational and back on the lake possibly on here, but it certainly will be amazing to see the craft skimming the water again after what will be 43 years

I dont understand the point of this ? .. Will it be modified in any way so that its less likely to flip again , and if not whos going to drive it ?

Yes, it won't be running at 300 mph. only around 100 according to the article. It set a record earlier at 276mph, so fairly well proven to say, 250!

I'd like to think Gina would have a go. But I'd gladly volunteer.

i maybe wronge here (again)
but the reason that it flipped last time was that they were to quick to do the return run and it got into trouble crossing its own wake from the first run.

like i said i may be wronge!

campbell didnt wait for the all clear to return, the extra wash was caused by the water brake and hadnt left it long enough to return, the usual procedure was to re-fuel then return, how ever the conditions were perfect and were set to change so he simply turned around and went again and hit 300mph on the return run but also hit his own wash causing the boat to lift and flip, accusations were made of suicide due to mounting debts and pressure from sponsers to perform, personally i'd like to think it was down to driver error but we will never know, and yes there was still fuel in the system when it was recoverd.

Surly running out of fuel would have completely the opposite effect!
(i.e. a stuff) which at that speed would be just as lethal,

The theory is, that the motor thrust holds the boat on the water (downward thrust) and that reduction in power (slowing down) would need to follow precedures such as applying the water brake. simply switching off the power, and thus removing the downward thrust, would, if theoretical take off speed was being exceeded, result in flight.

I'm sure it's all supposition though. looking at the video, the signs of jet thrust doesn't appear to stop prior to, or during the accident.

I think the combo of being light (no refuelling) and the wake from the 1st run did it. Plus, we're talking cutting edge stuff, where there's always plenty of room for things to go wrong, after all, they were venturing into the unknown, and other than Mr Warby, it's still pretty unknown.

I can see how this augment has been running all these years now!
My take on it was that as a three-point hydroplane "it" required the power to keep the boat out of the water, and relied on aerodynamic down force to keep her in contact with the water. Quite a balancing act! Therefore with the loss of power it would loose lift.
I know that you have a great deal of interest in this subject and personal involvement with some of the people

In my opiniom the only drivers that are really qualified to drive K7 at any speed (I have heard talk of between 100-200mph) are:-

Ted Walsh
Jim Noone
Alan Marshall
Colin Jelf
Ian Andrews

Although Colin has done records attempts, not for a long time, Ian hasn't. As he's a good mate of mine, I'd prefer to see Ted drive it!
