Bravo 3 Outdrives

I have two 2005, 496 HO Mercruisers matched with Bravo 3 X ratio 2 : 1. These are factory delivered in a Riviera M430. I am trying to establish if there have been any historic problems with these drives and these motors? The 2005 is an installation date not date of manuf. I would also like to hear the stories about matching diesels with the Bravo 3 X Diesel. There appears to be problems with using Yanmars. Merc do not like HP greater than 300 HP being used with them. Their product info contradicts itself. It is difficult to get answers out here in Australia.

496 HO are good engines ,most of the rotating assembly is not forget ,unlike the 454/502 magnum engines, but cast ,overall in original form ,they are good motors.
The Bravo3 is just the same upper unit like a bravo 1 or 2 ,if its a regular Bravo 3 .
The lower is a different unit ,Mercruiser has them also in diesel bravo 3 ,the only thing thats different in a diesel bravo comparing toa regular bravo is the decal on the back.
Early style diesel bravo,s were different ,the gears were heat treated ,and some more internal parts were made stronger to live longer behind their 7,3L navistar V8 engine ,somehow it wasn,t enough because most drives were doing kaboom on these 7,3L ,as also with the LP300 yanmar, especially ,when the boat is heavy ,when on a light boat ,they could run for a long time when easy on the throttles during accelerate /deaccelerate /rough water
