bravo x deminsions

ive been told my x dimentions are to be 17.5"s but i havent got a clue what that means.where do i measure from and what do i measure to a pic or drawing would be good

wont 17.5 mean my prop will be surfacing or roughly how far up the transom will the cavitation plate be

depends on your transom angle. The second pic gives dimensions for cav plate level with running surface ( zero X height) so if you have a 13 degree transom, it would be 3 3/8th above.

will that work ok what do you thinkon a 26 scarab. my brother had a duo prop volvo drive on a searay his cav plate was 1.5" above and it woulden get on plane
what hight was your extremes and what prop suited best

most of our boats have been +2", although a few have been +4". 21 & 26 seem to run best with a 3 blade mirage, the 24 only really works with a 4 blade Bravo 1 or similar.

sorry for beign a paim in the a## tony but what are the advantages of keeping it so high
im afraid of going too high and it slipping like a bitch

the extra 2" up on a 24 Extreme with a 445hp b/b gives around 3-4mph top speed.

My advice would be to go for around +2", then beg steal or borrow a 2" shorty Imco lower.

tony thank you so much for the advice ill mount the template on the back of the boat at 16.5 take a picture and send it to you and you can let me know what you think

Wow, that makes mine +6!!!
It's 19" from the bottom of my 'v' to my crankshaft centreline! No wonder it throws a rooster when trimmed out and is a pig to get on the plane!
