Had a huge poster of her on the wall in my digs when I was a student.

It's a shame to see her not afloat any more.

I remember wanting the remote controlled version of this when I was younger! Crazy to see the real thing for sale.

The price seems relative to the RC model all those years ago... well out of my reach

I'll be in the area on the 25th. I'll see if I can find her and get some better pics.

I remember going aboard her & meeting Mr Branson when she was doing trials off Lowestoft prior to the transatlantic record. She was built by Brooke Yachts IIRC.

How competitive could she be for Cowes - Montecarlo?

EDIT: Not at all at 52kts I imagine. Make a good support boat though!

VAC 2 - Way before Larby was born

There was a Virgin Atlantic Challenge reunion in the Scilly Isles last year.

Link

I have enclosed a shot of Tim Powell who looked after the organisation of the attempt.

A few years ago Tim gave me all of his files on the project.

If anyone buys VAC 2, I am very happy to share the paperwork history, it includes the original MTU Reports etc.

Not gonna live that one down for a long time am I!! Does it count as mitigation that I was in the middle of sprinting up and down a field when I didn't recognise it?

Thanks for posting those. Good to see Eckhard Rastig hiding in there.
