Can anyone....

Identify the music used on this video? (no smart arse comments please, I realise there's a good chance it's called 'Ready Steady Go')

http://media.boatmad.com/gallery/v/m.../Boat.wmv.html

Had an email from a German guy asking.

It is a remix of Paul Oakenfold's 'Switch On'

you'll have to excuse Jon, anything outside of soft cell & the village people is a bit of a stretch for him.

Surely there's a codec pack to play wmv's on a mac?

Matt i think you can probably download something, but as ive been experiencing problems with the supplied software i dont want to risk downloading anything whilst im out here. When i get back to the uk i can use my PC while this mac is being looked at.

This is the message i receive:

"The page “Girl Power” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed".

Try right clicking over "Click here to Download movie in original format" and save it locally to your machine to run it. It's possible your media can play it, but just not embedded in a browser.

I'm on a Mac & if I click on Jon's link I get a blank page. If I click on "Click here to Download movie in original format", as suggested by Matt, I can see the video in my browser but it doesn't play very well. (That may be something to do with having an eight year old computer though. )

mPlayer is an open-source video player, one of several open-source players that can handle WMV: See here for more info

MicroSoft stopped support for Media-player on the Mac in early 2006; instead they recommend Flip4Mac, which plays WMV files via Quicktime See here for more info This seems the best solution to me.

Hope you get your problems sorted.

Mplayer is OK (used in XBMC), as is VLC.
I found VLC uses a bit less processor on some vids

Finally switched over to mac after years of struggling with hi definition video editing on PC's.

However the Macbook Pro with ilife 08 installed is not without glitches! If i had read the Mac user Forums before hand i wouldnt have bothered.

The Hi Def video that i have imported and edited i have been very pleased with but the software is unstable.

There's no way id give my Mac Book Pro to anyone out here to look at so in the meantime im waiting for Apple to release a fix or ill put it into Apple service when i get back to the UK.

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated.
