If you look the three outer motors on either side have wing plates for the side ram hydraulic steering. Surely only the outer engine on each side would need a wing plate and all the inner ones would be tied to these and to each other, just as the inner most two motors are. I reckon its actually a quad outboard set up and someone has just copied and pasted the outer motor on each side twice.

It came back from the Emirates with triple Yamaha 250's, and Dave, Chris, and his lordship raced it at first with those motors, then Joe Re-rigged it with a pair of staggered Mercruiser 900SC's/Mk6's.
