Would love to find the wicked one, did a bit of testing with Norman before the Needles in I think 70 after Faireys had put in a new long distance tank and fuel system and delivered her to Dorset Lake without ibstructions..... spent hours try ing to work it floating round Poole harbour begging passing boats for jump start, 'cos we flattened the battery every time we ran out of fuel !!!!!!!!!!
Any one know where Red Aligator is now?
Shaft ( Keith Horseman) was in Marbella for along while
I had dinner with Keith Horseman & his wife last week. Quite a few stories...

Keith & his wife are long standing friends of my girlfreind. I have only met him once but as you say - great guy. Unfortunately he is not in the best of health now but I get the feeling that he has lived life to the full . I will happily pass on your best wishes - who shall I say?

Cheers

Ian

Miss Enfield

Yellowdrama was Miss Enfield II

Found Keith's Ex RB69 boat back in 81. "Western Credit" Well beyond any repair, deck was completely rotted away, hull was delaminated and full of green slime

that old nail, walked sideways, but when it went, think Keith made it to Oban after a very long run from Douglas...........3 mercs???
It was a direct crib of James Beard and Cive C's Volare, built by Charlie Shepard's Bristol Boats, which was where Keith had his card busieness.....
Charlie built my first circuit cat and mono, the later hated me and kept slinging me out !!!!nafter about the 5 time the ospreys refused to rescue me and said let the bugger swim, I digress sorry..
I think it was the smallest boat in the race..21 foot

Was out Cirencester way laying on it\'s belly in a walled garden, back of some houses. Which ties in with the location & Bristol boats.

Thought after yellowdrama Not Miss Enfield II, can I call it Miss Enfield \"III\" though it was never called it !!!

Ken Casir bought Miss Enfield 2 from Tommy Sopwith, I believe you are confusing 3 with T 2....T2 became Tim Powell's gas turbine "Marlboro"
re Western Credit, rings a vague memory that Nick Cripps miht of hd her which also ties in seeing as he and the family own half the villages in the Cotswolds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Confusion seems to occur more often nowadays.
******* ANORAK WARNING *******
Was Enfield II as you say that had the two external stringers on the hull side and Enfield Avenger- Unowhot-UnoEmbassy-pobjoy Mint had three external.

Now your just getting a smart a** Enfield Avenger was Double O Seven 007 Pascoe Watson twin turbo charged mercruisers and driven by Tim Powell, very fast had many core plug problems only won Deauville.
Pascoe lent the boat to Soppy Toopwith for the last 2 races of the '70 season in the US,(Miami/Nassau and Key West.
She caught fire while racing under protest because turbo's were illegal and "Red" Crise banned them, anyway she went up. I have never seen such a fire the aluminium burnt bright and very hot, Tommy took the boat to the Us as after the Lake Geneva race ther was onlky 1 point between Balestriere and him.
V B rescued Sopwith, and Charles de Selincort and Shead

The red boat "Badger" was not pobjoy mint...Pobjoy Mint was still white and after she was seized the customs/guardia dragged her up the runway at Gib and ripped the bottom out of her and the whole was twisted beyond repair...sorry

I beleive the red boat was the Robert Bruce boat - which ended it's racing over here as one of Lady Arran's boat and was painted red. Re-engined with petrols I think? That boat ran on outdrives for most of it's time. It ran as Popjoy Mint (class 2 in blue colour) before Lady Arran raced her. I believe this boat was used abroad for illegal purposes!

Ford Persuader never raced after 1977 - and I saw her still in yellow colour about five years ago and looking very much as per late 70's. She had the first pair of 250 Sabres and always ran on straight shafts. Unless anything changed in the latter years!

The two boats were pretty heavy - and were fully welded hulls with no rivetted topsides etc.
