concorde boats

Many years ago I bought a new concorde or concord? boat off a guy called Lyn Dudley, at the time it was claimed they were race boats,was this bullshit as they appear to have disappeared without trace ? I didn't think that it was particularly well built at the time.
It was a 'florida' as I remember and 16' 6'' long and had a new suzuki 115 on it.

Concorde Boats are still built by Phil Bennett. He is on the Member List.

Concorde boats built by Dudley powerboats were very quick boats raced with some success in class IV, the predecessor of OCR. Ray Bennet, Phil's father raced one and eventually bought the moulds.

i had a concorde t2 race boat with a straight6 merc on the back, brings back memories must have been 25-30 years ago, it held the world record at 87 mph for a whille, sitting here that seems like a different life

Lyn Dudley built and sold the Concorde ski/race boats from a workshop at Blackbridge, Milford Haven. He was also a Soozook dealer, so a lot of his boats were rigged with these motors. IIRC he packed up in the early 1990s, which was presumably when the moulds were sold on to Phil Bennet.

Nice fast boats - very pointy. You could use the bow to take pickles out of a jar

Phil, Nick and the boys race 3 of them in the UKFFORC series, 16s and 19/20ish...... with 90/150 etec engines on them

The picture looks similar to the one that I had,though I don't remember that many chines at the bow,the older model than mine had an extremely pointed bow on the deck moulding,mine was less so.I think they were shortened slightly on the (then new) model. Never did get mine set up properly, the chine walking got scary over 55ish. Speedo in those days not GPS so who knows!
We bought probably the last two that Dudley made in about 1988???

hello boatmad-forum

I´m from germany,and i have some questions about these boats.a friend of mine bought such a boat in January this year. we make a small test drive and there was some kind of problems when you will make a fast turn.

i know from other V-Bottom boats,if you trimm the engine completly negativ (total down) and make a fast turn with wot,then it goes into the turn like a gocart,or a train...
but these boat dont drive so,first there is some kind of slidding,and then se boat fall down to the left side (when you make a turn to right).

why it do that??

excuse my bad english,hope you understand the problem...

Been thinking back.They would have been the last two boats made in Milford as mine was in for its first service and having a speedo and new prop fitted when Lyn put the company into liquidation,I read it in the local paper and had a bit of a panic as my boat was in his workshop at the time. I collected it from his house. So I think 1988 was wrong it would have been the summer of '89 or possibly 1990?
We used it for skiing,when you deep started behind it you either came out or let go,being dragged was not an option!

I have memories of racing one of these in mono NE class when we were developing the Yamaha 60D. Very quick in straight line but unpredictable, swapped ends many times. It must have a right handfull with a block of flats on the back.
