Cougar 27 Certificate

Hi All,
I've provisionally sold my Cougar to a guy in France.
But he needs a cert to say it was built to EU standards.
Any ideas where I might get one of these?
Cougar Uk's webside doesnt seem to be doin much these days.
Tried emailing and ringing the number on there, but no good.
Anyone know how to contact Mr Cougar??
Thanks a lot,
B

Thanks Night Nurse.
Alan, I was speaking to the French lad again, he just needs some sort of paperwork for the boat.
Also, anyone know where I'll find a Hull Number/Plate?
Thanks

Mine had a CE plate in the cockpit underneath the rear bench seat, was very obvious. I have a pic somewhere if it helps.

I believe they were sold as a multi purpose race/sports leisure boat hence the CE approval. I believe mine was manufactured in 2003. I have attached a picture of my CE plate but need to get a new one made, does anyone know who makes these at a reasonable price.

If you find any information about the CE approval for the Cougar I would be very grateful for a copy, however not sure it would still apply to me because it is heavily modified but there again the hull and main structure’s remain unchanged.

More to the point if a boat is taken out of the country I have been lead to believe that is necessary to have a copy of the original VAT bill of sale to show that the VAT has been paid to Customs should I be stopped. Does anyone know anything about this or if I may be able to get a copy.

As for hull identification number, I have been over every inch of the boat and never found one, does anyone know if they were ever numbered?

Look forward to any replies

Regards David

Putting an inboard in a boat certified for an outboard would negate it all anyway! I really wouldnt worry about it too much.

Having said that a VAT is only a piece of paper with a VAT number on it. I'm sure a laminated printed CE plate would pass as a temporary thing?

Hi John

Have you ever been chalanged by forign customs and excise when tacking a boat abroad or asked for an origanal VAT bill of sale to show that the VAT has been paid, or are the only interested in large expencive boats?

Or is this only a problem outside of the EU

Regards

David

I've taken the race boat from England to Italy via France and back via Gib back up to Santander without any issues ever - In my experience customs officers are looking for a piece of paper - I would never suggest you make something up but if you know who built the boat and they don't have any records going that far back or they have ceased trading you're a bit stuck aren't you?
