Does anyone know of this boat?
Hi Gang,
Does anybody know anything about this boat?
the advert says " FOR SALE 26ft Phantom Cat, 1st to see will buy. 2 inboard petrol tanks, 2 bow tanks, all stainless steel deck fittings, foot throttle, bilge pumps, double ride steering Boat comes on a 6 wheel brake trailer. This boat is very fast 98mph on Windermere, certainly not for the faint hearted.C.W 300 MARINER 1998"
thanks
Martin

Any history of it??

I raced in that boat a few times.
It was new in 1990, and ran a pair of XR2's (200-ish hp) ran mid 90's
It then ran in the middle east with 2.5 EFIs (260's) and ran 111mph (without remote water pickups)
I believe it ran quicker than that on Windermere a few years back.
Dunno how quick it would be with the single 300. would be interesting to know.
Was a lovely, lovely boat when new in 1990. designed by Joe Donohoo ('Anaconda' on here) and built by him and Paul Hicks.

As by now most of you have guessed im not by any stretch of the imaginaton a "Racer I just want to poodle about in Bournemouth, Sandbanks and studland bay would this boat be better than the Ring? She who must be obeyed thinks my boat sits to low in the water and screams like a well whiped mule when I go anywhere near 60MPH!!!!!!!!!
Chaps, fellow boaters I need your Input!

Well it obviously fits all your criteria (LOUD, outrageous, fast, blah blah ) and you can do the deal on your existing rig, but my knowledge of cats is minimal to say the least.
That said I do know they are a totally different handling tool and prone to burn if not treated right, but then again that can be said about any high powered boat.
Jon has got to be your man for advice on what you want to use it for if he has raced it in the past.
As for condition surely it's worth talking Tony or Jon into going and have a look at it with you. You would feel a bit of a muppet if first outing you had one the sponsons fall apart
Worst ways you hand over 3 big ones and your set up and end up with an engine to show for it that hopefully hasn't been underwater
