Does anyone remember?
Here are some photos that were donated to HORBA by one of our board members, John Crouse.
I hope these bring back some pleasant memories.

quiz
Sorry top banana I spelt it wrong in my haste!
should be TRAMONTANA wore race no 2 and it was the most amazing boat to see as she shot across Torbay to the finish!
colour was Green and white I often wondered what happened to her, after THUNDERBOLT which I now have that was the other boat I lusted after! I got close to buying A'speranziella 6 years ago but that's another story....
One thing though and this must be clarified I always thought they were PETROL engines! will check my old race details and confirm
AND THE PRIZE IS??????????

Thunderbolt....here is what is written on the back of the photo:
Tramontana
1962 Cowes winner
39' Vosper
Jeffery Quill
1154 HP CRM Diesels
Here is what is written on the front PR piece that is stuck on the photo:
Horses Galore, 2508 of them packed into two CRM Issotto Fraccinni engines, are checked out by their stable-master mechanic aboard 42 foot Tramontana. Vosper built installation resembled their larger motor torpedo boats for the Royal Navy.
Please send any photos of Thunderbolt and we will post them on our website HORBA.
The prize is..... you get bragging rights ........and a free membership to HORBA (of course it is free for everyone, but you don't have to say that)

Well done, Mike

I'm still hard at it over here, going through the boxes of photos that John Crouse donated to HORBA.
I found this one, and I do believe that it is the boat with the 4 Jaguar engines that was referred to earlier.
By the way our first event for the Historic boats is next week in NYC for the poker run.
Any locals please feel free and stop by our booth..... we will have selected photos for sale...small medium and large sizes.

I have some (poor quality) video of Tramontana running. I'll post when I get a chance.

The picture is of Tramontana 2 who as you rightly say had the four Jag motors. After she finished racing she was brought by Tim Powell and re-engined with a pair of Mercruisers. I spent many a happy trip on her in the mid to late 70's usually going from from Hamble to Poole and back, as I recall she ran about 40 knots or so and was a terrific boat in a big sea. Don't know what happened to her after that ?
