It's sort of drive shower shaped, I fit them to Bravo 1's and Alphas!

Thats what i call the rigid ones as opposed to the shower hose type ones that culminate in a stainless box fitted on top of the outdrive.

What make and how much Tony? (Obviously Glen should have first refusal as its his thread).

The rigid one (cool tube) is nice and simple, fits really well and is cheap, downside is it can't be used with external steering. (I've stuck me head over the transom whilst underway, and they shift a load of water)

The flexible braided hose model is supposedly a better design for cooling, but costs a lot more, and I ain't got one in stock!

Prices.......

cool tube is £50.00 for the 1 that I have, bit more if I have to order it in.

Flexible fella is around £115 + vat, if it can be tacked onto an existing order, £135+ if ordered on it's own.

Reason for this is the high cost of shipping single items, and the uncertainty of freight charges, duty, paperwork charges etc.

I ought to know what these would be, but I still get caught out now and again!!!!!

If any one would like a shower, let me know in the next couple of days as I have a shipment leaving the states at the end of the week, and it should be with me next weds/thurs.

For the same reason you don't want a Mk6 dry sump speedmaster!

I understand that they prolong the life of your upper drive bearing. Especially when on long journeys.

£50.00 seems a cheap insurance against the cost of another drive.

I think he's saying that on a mildly powered application spinning less than a zillion rpm that the bearing doesn't 'overheat'. Just change yer oil regularly. DR has 16 years and 600 hours and the bearings seemed fine when I had a look at them last winter.

However, I still quite fancy one just to be cool!

They're aimed at the high HP/diesel users.
We ran a std Bravo1 for three seasons (racing, so flat out for an hour and a half at a time) with half as much power again as you're running, without a drive shower, and without any trouble. To the best of my knowledge, that drive is still running now (8 years later) on a pleasure boat, and still without any trouble.
However, I expect Cookee could have busted it

so I doubt you need the extra insurance, spend it on petrol

i got an alpha one on a 4.3 efi pushing nearly 2t of boat, found a thing on internet that said if ur drive top gets white u need one???? yey or ney
