Yes I wanted to know that too, just out of curiosity, I did hear that the boat was in Southampton, not too sure if this is correct though.

Does each team have to have a web site? It would be interesting for those of us who can't make it to the actual race .

Who is the guest seat for?, besides the guest.

Polli`s Engine

With reference to the files ,his Motori Moderni powered craft entered 13 races, won one and retired in twelve. Also attached is Jackie Wilson`s circuit cat with the cosworth engine. That Moderni engine was a flat`boxer`developed by Subaru and marinised by Polli`s Motori Moderni Allioni shop in Milan. It shoved out 550hp and produced a speed of 125mph in testing with four installed (Quote)

The teams don't have to have a web site but those that are trying to attract sponsors seem to have one. We will update ours daily as we now have mobile broadband and i guess some of the other teams will do the same

Guest seat is for the celebs so i understand

So if you only have 1 seat for the celebrity, how are Mr May and Mr Knowles going to cope? Or are they not doing the whole of the race?

Thanks for the information. I'm really interested in this fantastic race. Will your updates be available to read on this site? Or do you have something else planned and if so how can we read the updates that you have done please?

Updates of every leg will be posted up to the RB site, on here and any other site that reports powerboat racing.

Ray Bulman will be writing, Chris Davies taking the pictures, and myself finding the wi-fi!

Jackie Wilson did, the class was ON (outboard racer up to 2 litre, equal F2/F2000/SST120 except of the free fuel and no homolg. needed) The boat was made by Chris Hodges, raced against him in -76. The rule for outboard engine was a little bended, however, the engine as I remember was mounted on as special "crate"/frame which was mounted on the inside of the transom = all weight on transom and therefore was approved as an outboard ! If somebody's memory better than mine, pls correct me !

My Engine tech lecturer at university was chief engineer at Cosworth and TWR and had quite a lot to do with boat racing in the states though being sub contracted by merc. He’s told me that merc had one everything going, but for thunder boats (not sure what these are). They found a loop hole that said a outboard was classified so if it were held to the boat by 4 bolts and two guys could lift it, so they fitted twin cosworth DFX engines (basically the turbo charged DFV engine used for indy) in a hull with four bolts each and two big guys lowering them in, it lapped everything in the field, and then broke down! The other interesting thing was that he said they used a 500hp NOS shot to get it out the hole that was cut off when the boost came in. sure someone will tell me this is wrong but it is what he told me, and I always think never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
