face ripple

can you imagine this powering down Southampton water on a very calm day wouldn't want to come across a wash though

the guy in the passenger seat gets the ole face ripple and no life jackets, think I would have wanted a padded suit to go out in this even if it was a lake

this is where my love of boats finishes and fear starts

like the bit at the end just before they dock when the passenger checks his seat to see if the brown stuff in his pants has leaked on the seat

Why don't people use v drives over here? Are they flat water only? Seems to be going well!

Very envious of the location, the weather.lots of warmth on the old bones.
Oh the boat supose its alright,I know they never had a jacket helmet or any other stuff, but i kinda like that, imagine just looking out at that view from your house and saying lets go for a spin, and just doin it,gets my vote,
Lake widermere it aint, mind you thats buggered up now 10mph.
I would like to take it through Chichester harbour flat out and explain to the majistrate i was just getting my 120 quids worth the harbour authority has charged me for 7 month harbour dues, thievin sods,Christ it spends most of its time out of the water. What was the left pedal for ,tabs or something.?

Simplest explanation would be a full width trim tab, that you normally set by a hand control, but can be over ridden by a foot control if you need to get the bow down quickly.

Used on V drive boats as the "drive" isn't trimmable.

I believe the boat is 21' like a phantom however it has 1300hp and topped out around 114mph like I said before think I might need some rubber diapers before he took me out for a blaaaast in that only in the USA and at the rate of speed that engine would consume fuel it would be a very short spin if it was over here

PS ... Larby that's the sort of motor ye need in that Revenger

Ha ha, I'd love to, doubt it'd help my concerns over the bravo though!

hat was what inspired me to ask about the v drives. You see simple shaft drives in older boats, but (other than gee) I've never seen a v drive in a modern offshore boat, even though the yanks seem to love em. Nice and simple and not much to break.
There must be a reason why they're not used, so any idea what it is?

James

I am no expert but I would have though the lack of trimming plus there will be a power loss going through the drive would count against them. How much power is lost I don't know but you want to minimise all power losses. Quite why the shermans use them & we don't really I don't know.

Can't be any worse than a stern drive though surely? So far we've just got lack of trimming, which can be partially sorted with a set of tabs.

Yet more v drive imfo.

Interesting to note they put the average hourly use at only 50 per year and a a large lump of that at idle.Makes the fuel difference very little.i have to admit a bit dissapointed in the V drive as i have never liked all that ally hanging on the back.now we know why gee is so slow LOL sorry Biff/Chris .
