No tabs, apparently doesn't need any. Seems to run great as it is, so I guess it doesn't! Found one of the diverter solenoids to be stuck almost closed, now freed up and loud as hell! Cool! Loving it ...

dude it really depends on how brave you are.
i know for a fact that if you put JBD in his P20 then he would woop your sorry little arse! not because he is a better or worse driver but simply because if his boat sunk tomorrow he wouldn't be that bothered because he's had his fun and pushes it too if not beyond its limit

ahhhh Andy.....you may have drove maelstrom, but if you didnt drive or inspect RedMist how can you compare and prefer??

reckon RedMist was 1-2mph quicker on average..

but the comparison wasnt about speed, I'm sure if you put the 2 boats next to each other and compared specs for a puchase RedMist would take most of the votes... although RM would be more expensive...

re the ride quality...... are you guys still suggesting that a p16-25 give a better rough ride than a extreme 26 ??

I cant understand all your comments, if its too rough for a p16-25 and you have to slow down from 65-40, but in a extreme 26 you slow down from say 60-50, me thinks the extreme would win!!??

I'd rather be in the extreme 26 in rough conditions over the above anyday, unless a p28 was available!!

guess I need to get a race boat.... would love a pantera 28 with an hp525, its is on my christmas list....

Just spoken to the guy who owns maelstrome now... hes not up for selling just yet - possibly not until next year - so doesnt leave an awful lot of Extreme 26's for sale

What other alternatives are there?

I don't currently build 26's anymore, as the moulds are in the process of being sold to a former customer of mine. (He's recent bought the marshan 21 privateer)

The intention is to build them alongside our range of boats, to similar spec, but for a higher price than I used to charge. It seems he can't get the charitable registration that i have!

A 26 demo (petrol) should be underway in a while, and completed boats will be available for the 2007 season.

I don't remember ever saying a P16 compared in any way.

My point was that a well driven P21, 23, or 25, with an appropriate motor, would be quicker in pretty much all conditions than a 26 Ring with a max of 60mph.

Remember TD and I raced one of these hulls, with a max speed of 20mph more than RM, and have had chance to compare it to many other performance boats, including the smaller single engine class III boats.

The 2 litre boats would regularly give a good run for the money, and we had 460hp, less weight, bigger tabs, and no concerns whatsover about bustin it.

Making it to a check point in a poker run, quicker that a another boat full of family & kids really does mean jack shit! As you can't possible know if, or how hard they were trying, if they have any driving skill, or if the boat was running/set up OK.

Go 'real' racing if you need something to judge your performance against.

All just MHO

Everyone has lost the plot here. Stop talking about racing drivers and people who are clearly insane! ... take the average boater and put him in a p21 and then an extreme 26 - I think we all know the outcome. Also, remember that Admiral isn't saying a p21 driven by a lunatic isn't faster than a 26 extreme driven by your average leisure boater (which most of us are), the point is that an extreme 26 is a fairly comfortable boat even in some moderate chop, whereas smaller p's are, sure, still fast if driven by someone on a death wish, but are definately a lot harsher on your behind (and more likely to end up on the sea bed). This is not from experience (before you all tell me to F*** off! although I did run a p16 for a year), but surely you need to apply some logic ... bigger boat, better (all round, comfort, not just speed) in bigger sea than a smaller boat .. there's no rocket science involved?! Going back to the original question, I think the extreme 26 offers a good combo of sport and leisure, its not gonna break your back and it has accomodation, whilst still being faster than most leisure cruisers. Benc wants diesel, what other diesel boats in that price braket can offer more than this?

I think Benc would be well advised to at least consider the extrem 26, although availablity doesn't look good? So what else is there in Diesel?
