French Phantom 28?

Seem to recall this Phantom 28 http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o27316-en.html coming up here before ... pretty sure I remember reading someone had gone to France to check this boat out but it was a well thrashed dog, if so a pity the only Phantom 28 I have ever seen listed on OSO is not representative of the breed

Wasn't it the original Brut Phantom 28 then called Sleuth damaged in a Needles trophy race after a collision with a cruiser class boat ??

barge pole touch it with would not

It looks pretty good in the photos but it does have a steel frame inside - you have to wonder why that is and what does it handle like now? 2 chaps from this forum did go and have a look at the Bordeaux 28, both know their boats and both wouldn't touch it.

Going by what you guys say it does appear to be a right old dog, lets hope no American decides to fly over to check it out in the belief he is looking at a mint boat, although at Eur 55K around $40K probably sounds expensive by comparison to what's available within their own market

It may be cosmetically perfect, but was it painted? I would worry about the reason for all of the scaffolding inside the boat, they certainly weren't designed that way!

I would be interested to find out which P1 workshop is selling it? Bernico?

Does anyone else get the feeling 'SCARA' just joined this site to promote this boat, the fact that his grasp of the English is cleary limited would suggest he hasn't just returned from France and as we all know Mr.Baker never ever built these boats with a scoffold frame in, so whilst it may have had a verry pretty makeover there are clearly a lot of issues that would become apparent if this boat was driven hard in our waters.

I believe this boat is the original red 'BRUT' of Pete Armstrong that went RB in '84.

I don't know the boats history but regarding all that scaffolding: Wouldn't reinforcing the transom if fitting larger engines then the hull was origiinally designed for and/or the boat is getting on a bit be a good idea? Looks like they've done a good job to me. Or is there more than meets the eye underneath and damage elsewhere?

red trailers rollers

Yes my friend made a great job on the trailer, he wanted to use mutiroller, to avoid too much weight on small sufaces, inside the roller , all the shaft are stainless steel sleeved, home made.
