Gaffrig speedo

Bought one off Tony, anyone have any ideas how i can get it to work the water inlet on the gauge is twice the size of a standard one so i joint the big hose to my orignal little one and of course i have no readings. Are bigger water pick ups avalable? Do they have to be designed to go with the gauge ie diameter etc for a true reading? I have the feeble transom mounted pickup. I know they sumtimes is a water pickup in the gearbox but i cant find it anywhere when i changed the impellor.

A standard Pitot pickup (the one in your lower unit, a nice SS Gaffrig one, or a nasty little plastic speedboat one) will all work fine with any 'water pressure' type speedo, so you need to check that you haven't blocked off the hose at your connection.

Yes Roofer just bein out in her so calm i changed a crack reed and cage cleaned all injectors fitted new regulator and changed plugs to buzhw instead of the buhw that were in there.
She is cured touch wood!
Im going to pitch her up a bit to keep me revs down im running a 23pitch big ear chopper at mo and am feeling the need for a 26 27 28 or even a 30 pitch i feel the engine has the power to turn such big props so if anyone wants to trade!

Ive tried a 25 laser was good but need something bigger and as im shopping in the second hand market you cant be to picky! Geoff from ocean racing recommended a 30 pitch.

I like the chopper but the laser did feel more tame till i melted the rubber!

With a 30 your motor won't rev high enough and will make less than 200hp. You may aswell sell it and get a 200.

guy i know runs a 25 yam drag on a p21 with a slightly tuned 2.5 and pulls 76 at 7k, i think a 26 is as tall as you can go without losing revs.

Yep, so with a high pitch prop like a 28 or a 30 he will see 6k or less. At these revs a 200 is as powerfull or maybe even a bit more powerfull than a 260, and a hogged out motor will be even less powerfull again.

taz you gotta remember your motor makes max hp at high revs due to port work, id try to borrow a few props before you buy.

forget going tall on props, when your motor was on twin rig ran 98 with 32 ,15 cleavers, put my old 28x14.25 cleavers which we ran 4 litre13 years ago,110mph at8500rpm,certified windemere 04.you need to rev it,porting is per 300 drag.
