BTW, I heard a rumour the other day that there may be a release on DVD of this movie, & the one Hopkins did about the motorcycle speed records. I think it's called 'The Last Indian' or summat, sposed to be released as a double.
Excellent! I'll keep an eye out for that. Thanks for the offer though Jon.

As regards the restoration, how much of a restoration will it be? I mean, she was pretty comprehensively destroyed, then submerged for years. Surely there won't be a lot of usable structure left? Be more like a replica, and if thats the case they may just as well use the one that Alain DeCadenet built for the film?

I'm not sure about restoring her. I think she should have been left where she was as a memorial to a driven man and his dreams. They wouldn't do it to the Titanic, would they? Just my humble opinion.

I wouldn't have said that. Here, for example, is the main spaceframe post restoration. You can see it's original by the rivet holes.

Hmm. I see what you mean Matt. Lucky it was in freshwater really, wasn't it?

I'm still not sure about the moral question of restoring what was basically DC's grave for all these years, but Gina knew him better than any of us, and if she's fine with it then good luck to her.

Whichever way you look at it, it's good that people out there haven't forgotten him, and that future generations will be able to learn his story and be taught about a time when a man was free to accept a challenge, and with it the responsibility for his own actions, in the days before Britain was governed by Health & safety experts and 'No-Win No-Fee' personal injury lawyers.

Bluebird

Yes John, do place the photos up on the website.
Once again we have an example of how little respect this Nation financial trustees has for its nautical powerered sporting past . Thank God for the Family in what they are doing & lets see Bluebird back to how she was when she represented all the was Great in Britain in the 1960's
Good luck and Happy Chritmas to you all.
Chris
