Goldrush Flip Journo

I read in one of the Motoring Mags that Christopher Hilton (the well known Motor Racing journalist, who was with Gerv when the cat flipped),died suddenly about a month ago.

I don't think he ever lived that down over here! Can't believe it all happened 2 years before I was born!

James .. He never lived down with me either, considering this was the first run out after I had just rebuilt the whole boat, engine and drive, and yes we did do a lot of racing before you were born. !!!!!!!

Ha ha, I can imagine how that felt!! Bet you were glad you weren't in it though!
It's gutting sometimes to see everything that went on whilst I wasn't born or was too young to notice. Guess that's why I'm so damn determined to get it back now!

It would have been better if I was in the back it may not have happened!!!!! there was a foot throttle in the front and hand throttle in the back, Gerv just kept his size 9 down to the floor, so poor Chris Hilton had to get wet,
It's a great shame he as died.
Keep up all your good work to get racing back in Guernsey

That`s right, make Mr.Brooker and me feel old. (same age as it happens)

That was one of Jimbo`s favourite pastimes, rebuilding alloy sponsons. He became an expert on tin boats, and his services secured on an alloy mono for the same owner in further years. At least he didn`t have to assemble the bloody thing before racing.Probably still trying to recover from the nightmares!

Don`t forget the Bus Pass too.Could always go on `Mastermind`,answering questions on the `Golden Age of Offshore Powerboat Racing`.that would almost certainly drag a few Boatmad hecklers in through the door.

I don't get the Bus Pass or the Heating Allowance, because I live in Spain, that's not right is it. !!!!!
You going on Mastermind sounds a great idea you would be very good, about dragging some of Boatmad's Members through the door of enlightenment (lets not go there ).

Thanks for that Jim and yes, it is a real shame he has died, I wonder if Gerve knows?
It'd be great to see you over here some time during the powerboat week revival, I'm hoping to get as many 'old faces' (no offence intended there!) together for a bit of a reunion if I can, for the sake of them and everyone who used to be involved!

Cheers, James
