Good slipways.

Where are there any good places to slips on the south coast. i have been to mercury marine at hamble and it was ideal, with good rates and parking.
I just fancy having a few weekends away to diferent places.
Maybe hayling island or sussex coast. but to be honest i am up for going anywhere round the country.
This may help anyone else looking for places to launch.

Depending how far you want to travel, my home slipway is Mount Batten (Plymouth), access to the water pretty much 24hrs although at very very low tides a 4x4 is helpful, free launching and parking, good pub just round the corner and a choice of 2 slipways within 100yards. Down side is the main slip can get busy with dive boats at times and the local young offenders club(sorry that should read Mount Batten watersport clubs or sailing school) taking the dingys out. Never have to wait longer that a few minutes for it to clear though. And when you have 24hrs acccess theres no real rush.

Haslar??

Slipway is not great (i.e. shingle) but very close to harbour mouth, sheltered and free slip / parking.

Also pretty good tide wise.

Lee on solent is also very central for solent but busy with PWCs and not sheltered.

Old Portsmouth - camber dock

4 quid, money in the barrier coin slot, free trailer parking and a pay and display 50m away. you need to call qhm on channel 11 before leaving and crossing from camber to ballast though to get in the small ships lane - otherwise you get into trouble

Had a book some years ago with all public slipways in the uk listed , it had all the info on each slip ie times ether side of tide or full time usage also info what the slip was like ie what it was made of and gradients and weather there was a charge or free.
Would be good to source one of them
Will see if I can find it
