guernsey powerboat racing video
Ok the qualities a bit, urm, and I'm sorry we did not get the whole race, 2 of the dvds we used wouldn't play back, so this is just a section near the end of the first race of 2009.
featuring;
baja 496HO
b23 xr2 pottering along (big V)
p21 xr2 (trimmed to hell)
a big rubber dinghy with 2 jolly big outboards
extreme 24, 496HO
and that was all that was left at this point, only 2 boats finished the race. Unfortunately the zoom could not really capture the rough outer leg and the water looks quite calm for some reason.
I've got another 10 minutes to post when I get round to it.

It was my first ever powerboat race.
I was happy to get 12 laps under my belt and finish second.
A world champion told me 'get the boat reliable first, then get it fast'
Do you race Marinatic?

hahahahaha well i have already repaid chief.. your next mate.
Yes Frank nearly lapped me that day too! With 4 races under his belt this year, Frank has got driving his p20 flat out around the whole race down to a tee and he will be very hard to beat next year.
Hugh has also proved he is a very good driver over the 4 races, and he will be at the front of the pack when he takes the step up to a V6 rig next year.
Hi Paul E! Good to have you on board for next year mate! As you can see, we are a competitive bunch lol, which is very healthy and exactly what you want in this sport! what boat / motor have you got then mate?
cheers,
Jacques.

I pick it up next week, an Osprey XR20 RIB. It's a winter project to fit it out to race, and find a motor as the 200 on there at the moment had water get in the fuel. It's currently a 5 seater with the console way too far forward, so we'll change it to 2 seats and get rid of any crap that doesn't need to be there, probably going to scratch build a new console with a layout so it can be driven hard! I'm looking for a 225 V6, don't really want to go the EFi or XR2 route as it's also going to be used for leisure too
It should be pretty quick, and useful in the rough! It's all about having a laugh at the end of the day though and pushing as hard as you dare

sounds awesome mate
put something powerful on it, maybe an evinrude 250 H.O?
RIBS are awesome in the chop, and we get alot of that in Guernsey!
we are going to hold the 'Round The Island' Race next sure, which im sure the RIBS will do very well in.
you will love racing with us mate!
the social side and the p!ss ups after the races are really good too!
not to mention the poker runs too!

Well it was designed for 150 max back in the early 90s, researching the 'net either this one, or another one over here had a 225 and they reckoned 60knots+ if you had the bottle It's a trade off of outright power and keeping the balance right, plus not spending a fortune! The previous owner scared themselves with the 200 and were going back to a 150 if they kept it, so Ill see how it goes
How do you go about becoming a club member? Or is it simply a case of paying race fees?

Sorry, did have the whole race filmed but the first dvd's unreadable, unfortunately that's the one with you on.
I think I might buy a digital video camera for next year, one with a better zoom and to eliminate all this dvd trouble.
The round the island race sounds crazy, the bigger the boat the better. My money would be on Dan in Johns rib for that one.
You racing next year Andy? go on,

Sweet! An argument i'm not the cause of!!
I rekon it's a good vid mate, tbf jacques, the vids you posted were pretty biased towards you winning! That said i do think you were going well by the end of the season, we'll all enjoy taking the p1ss about the first races though, everyone's welcome to rip it out of me for breaking down so damn much!!
Hugh etc, Havoc is a P20 with a 2.4 efi.
Paul, glad to see you're getting the rib, it'll be good to have the variety in the races!
James
