Nigel you're sure that 39' (and not a 40' like those guys wrote in the tech data)was the former Bounty Hunter-Fayva?
Fayva Cig.39' that in black version raced in Key West APBA World Championships in 1982,and Popeyes Cig.39' raced in the same year.
I think there was two sister boat.

Don't forget the boat also ran with just Willie Meyers and Wayne Vickers on board, under the Halter only livery.

It's a controversial history of this 39',that started in 1979 like the last boat of Martin like "Bounty Hunter". In the same year and same name raced in Porto Cervo-Costa Smeralda in september but with Meynard.
In 1981 in black colours and named "Halter Racing" raced ,like Top Banana remember to us.
In 1982 with the name "Fayva Shoes" came back to Meynard...

Enjoy BluFin!
This was the "Bounty Hunter" 39' after that Martin sold it to Michael Meynard. The French-Canadian raced with Bob Idoni in Porto Cervo in september 1979 without changing nothing in the boat and finishing 20" behind the winner De Angelis in a CUV 38' "Alitalia Tre".

I Believe the history of the Bubbledecks goes like this..... The Black Bubbledeck (although it was really Dark Blue) was the first of the (2) Boats built. That Boat's Fate is at the bottom of the Everglades. The Red Boat is the boat that keeps popping up on E-Bay. Last we heard of that boat last year, was that it is sitting in a wharehouse in Colorado. My Father Ran the Blue Boat for Halter Racing and then was sold to Fayva Shoes. Fayva Shoes then Sold it to someone in florida, who had other uses other than racing, for the boat, and it was dumped in the Everglades. He then had the Red Bubbledeck Built and I Believe Only Raced it a few times before selling it to Popeys. I Believe that is the Outcome of the two Bubbledecks. I ask my father all the time, What the whole story was on those (2) Boats and he Smiles and says, He would have never guessed there would be so many questions of a boat. He says he really didnt pay too much attention to the outcome of the boats. But does remember the Blue Boat was faster and lighter then the red. No Matter what he did at the time, he could only get the red one up to 85mph! He Called it the red slug, and quickly sold it. Hope this helps for those that wanted some info on the infamouse "Bubbledecks"
Jr.
