Help required !

Hi I have a good condition GP14 in full working order however with us having young children we think we might be better with a cabin cruiser style boat. My question is would it be possible to make my GP14 into one and lose the sailing aspect ? Would it be possible and would it be stable ? Do you think I'd be best to sell what I have and just buy what I'm after ?

Many thanks

Nick

Hi nick, no, gp 14 was designed as a sailing dinghy. For a start the stability would be terrible if not dangerous. And the transom wouldn't be up to taking an engine. Transom on a sailing dinghy just keeps the water out.
Don't ruin a good boat to make a terrible one.. you should get good enough money for the 14 and put it towards a nice little cabin boat.

Thank you for the advice this was exactly what I needed to know. Do you have an idea on what sort of money I should ask? It was restored in 2006 and has a full photo by photo documentation. As I said it's complete with aluminium mast and boom all the sails and Built in flotation. All the rigging looks to be there and is like new plus it's on a launch trailer and has a road trailer too !

Many thanks again for your advice it's really appreciated
