That looks like the "Shepton Mallett Motors" boat,
IIRC before that, Darren Kirkland used to ski behind it and it was named after some sort of pressure washer (in the days before Hallett inboard)
i'm sure it had a pair of 220hp EFi merc's
But i stand to be corrected

Chaos, Alle Steamed up & Sambo; Thank you for the information
I also heard it was a Kevlar version of the later Arrowbolt 21, but thought the deck layout looked rather special. Do you know which years it was used for skiing ? Any clues where it is now ?
BR.

Further to my last, i can remember that the boat was built of kevlar as a special by fletcher,it was built about 6 inches wider than the standard 21 apparently it was a 35k project. Brian chidley bought it for alot less than that ran it in the late 80's early 90's
when run with avgas heads would run at just over 90mph.He sold it and bought an american Shiarda(not sure on spelling) running twin turbo v8 run on avgas 100+
Have no idea where it is now.

Yeah, man! Thats the one!
Many years ago,i think it was 1991, a friend of my father bought such a boat, but with a little higher windscreen.
There was a 275 HP Merc on her back, tuned to 305 hp. With a hydraulic JAckplate on it!
She was capable of making 85 mph!
Name of the boat was " champion ", dont know what happened to her. He sold it after one year.
He bought that boat here in hamburg, at " Interboot ". Interboot was the main importer of Fletchers here!
Thanks!

All info correct.
I was the Observer for Richard Connock (The Undertaker) when Brian Chidley owned the boat. It was made specially for Darren Kirkland by Norman Fletcher. I think it was a cut down version of a larger Fletcher Mould, but designed for Ski Racing.
The top picture of the 3 in the first post is at Viersel at the 'Diamond Race', cant remember the vnues of the other two!
The second picture shows how the skier knew when there was a 'hole' coming up - used to pebble dash his face with spray !!
Thise pictures were in 1991, as we were in the British Team at the World's in Darwin in '92 and had the Shiada by then.

I'm not 100% but i think 3 were made two of them were called Turbo wash, and the last one was called ambiance, pictured above. the all white one could be the second turbo wash, now at lyme regis, Its made of kevlar and aromat.

Hi there,
The Fletcher you are refering to was called Turbo-wash which I have owned boat No2, the first boat was I believe made from standard fibreglass but in a race with bad conditions her hull was cracked between the ballast tank and the formers, Dave Brockington of the legendary D.B. Marine Sales Taunton did all the work on behalf of Norman Fletcher, the guys were sent down to Taunton to repair it ready for the next race, it was decided at some point to build the next boat from Kevlar which was the boat I had the pleasure of owning this was still called Turbo-wash, she was awesome a fantastic rough water boat but was fast for her size, boat No3 was called Ambience which had what David called a "Pinched Hull" to increase the deadrise angle of the hull for better performance, I have tried to locate my old boat but David told me it's in the South of France this is a boat I regret selling.
