Fantastic job Peter.
One question - do rigid engine mountings in boats not cause excessive NVH - especially with a composite layup?

Hi Stats,
It is fair to say that you do lose a bit of refinement but in a sports boat it only adds to the thrill.... in the case of the Ilmors they are a very sweet engine anyway and solid mounting them has many advantages. Much more accurate drive line alignment which you don't have to adjust and it is also a lot easier to spread the load evenly into the hull, you can also use the engines as a semi stressed member but only if the hull is of good integrity.I'll bet you had square eyes after reading all that.......

Hi Stats,
Nothing much to report some small detail work has been accomplished but most of my efforts are being channeled towards red Cheetah the diesel engined boat which started of as a relatively simple refresh of the engines and drives but has now turned into a major re-engineering project.

Hi all,
Managed to sneak a few hours this week doing further reshaping work on the drives spun up a plastic bush to slide over the prop shaft as a guide, so the drives are just about ready for mounting now..

Hi stats,
Red Cheetah is still getting all the attention and it's probably got more lightweight carbon parts than Carbon Cheetah....... i think we might have to address this problem. Have just started work on a new test rig to demonstrate the fly-by-wire steering system to potential customers.

Hi All,
Carbon Cheetah gets a little bit of attention. As the anchor locker wasn't going to be used the original lid was bonded in place, as she is now going to get wings i needed access into this area for the mounting bolts and reinforcing plates so i cut the lid out including the flange i then bonded plywood all round the edge of the lid to extend it and used this to make a plug, once finished i will take a mould and use the mould to make carbon fibre components for both projects.
