Hydraulic steering question.
Ive got hydraulic steering fitted on my p18 and have a few questions. First how do people manage to drive with hydraulic steering ? steering is fine untill I hit 5k then you can feel it begin to lock up, how do you control chine walk with hydraulic steering when it doesn't give any feedback?
Ive tried boat 3 times now and with 3 different props but still can't get the hang of it, going to try again this weekend but looks like i'll be getting wire steering fitted next week.

your probably too use to cable steering roofer, ive only ever driven hydraulic so feels natural to me, i'd probably find cable steering very odd like you are with hyd.
or

Cable Steering ive always been led to believe is worse than hydraulic when you are really buzzing? I run capalino/Latham and is fine but it does get stifffer when jacked to the extreme heights though!

If you run twin rams and the system is sorted its very easy to control, move the wheel 1/4" the engine turns 1/4". Supurb kit.

To be honest i'm no fan of hydraulic steering, ive got a capilano helm and twin sidemount steering on my cat and don't like it.

I would guess your helm just isn't powerfull enough. Doesn't really matter wether you or anyone else thinks the ram is built better or worse then a seastar pro one. The hydraulic pressure required to move it is generated at the helm and it would seem that your's just isnt powerfull enough. How many PSI can it generate before the relief valves operate? Seastar and Capilano are rated at 1000PSI. Seastar pro is 50% more at 1500PSI.
