Over the 2 days we had it in the rough, a slight chop and even in the flat,
To help with ballast i went to the front then to the back,
the only thing constant was 57mph.
Adam gets his up into the 60's i believe, dont know if that 1 or two up.
No doubt he will inform us.
Nice looking boat though.

I'm sure you're right, Adam will have the answers.

Speeds on my boat - which was the demo boat.

Originally fitted with a Suzuki 140, gave a best of 54 mph, two up and running fairly light. 4 blade ss prop.

Best speed with the E-Tec 150 ho has been 64 mph, again two up and running fairly light. 3 blade raker (not worked). Has since been worked to first stage but no speeds recorded.

GPS constant speeds, non tidal.

More to come out of the HO speed with some re-mapping of engine and some prop work. Could also save some weight if trying for a race set-up. But my boat is a leisure boat that can cruise and also can be used for wake boarding.

I did briefly drive the boat that Scott put together and Kevin now has. It needed a fair bit of detailed sorting out and 25" shaft length engine was not the way to go (as everyone knew). However it went ok - wasn't convinced that the engine was running as smoothly as it might. Can't remember on speeds.

All in all with 200hp and a race set-up 70 mph is definitely possible - with a few other mods maybe a good few mph more.

Hope this helps

64mhp is quite good for a 7m-leisure boat with 150 hp. What's the all up weight in this condition?
Isn’t there a one or two running in the French rib racing series?
Do you know fast these are?

The first two built (mine and the one Kevin now has) were pretty light - a aramat / vinylester lay-up. Could ahve gone lighter still if we did a composite deck etc.
Still weigh in around 800kg though by the time they are fitted out.

There is one running in France - and has done pretty well, won quite a few races but has missed out on the championships (a few mechanical problems probably being their un-doing). Was a possibility of a second one going out there but the deal did not come off. The boat there ran a 150 Merc Promax and I think saw a best of around 65mph - maybe a touch more in the second year?

Funny, I don' remember you telling Scott that he was buying the wrong engine for the boat when he asked you! Also engine was 'as new' having just been rebuilt, so no issues there I am sure.

Also may just have a very good prop for you depending on what engine / gear ratio you go with in the end.

What happened to the enthusiastic offers of help and advice when your brother was trying to setup the rib? Poor show Adam, maybe this is all just a PR stunt to sell a few new boats after all?

This will be my last comment on the subject as this is going the same way as so many Boatmad threads where people who do not know the full facts or what they are talking about just try to stir things up for no good reason.

To put matters straight - I fully advised Scott that a 25" shaft was not the way to go - could be made to work but not ideal - I stand by that.

The engine was not running as good as it could be - maybe still tight from being built - could also be that the tank had not been cleaned and had some dirt in the fuel - I don't know - but again I stand by that comment.

I gave Scott a lot of advice and ideas on the boat - some of which he used, others he did not.

Nothing to do with selling more boats as I don't build boats these days. I have merely reported the truth - answered questions when asked even if they had other reasons!
