After much reading of articles, I'm gonna have the Standard Horizon fixed DSC (GM1500E) and one of those little waterproof handheld jobbies (HX270) that Marine Electronic Services are knocking out for eighty nine quid as a spare. Job done!

Then I can always come on here and berate you if it goes wrong.
