Lovely new CNC controls...
Hi all,
They've been a few months in the planning but we have now produced our first batch of controls at Atec.
'Why they look like Salmon controls' I hear you say... Well, yes I guess they do a little, but that is where the similarity ends. They are designed totally from scratch and differ completely, especially in the workings.
Suffice to say they're very slick to use and will be available in Aluminium, 316 Stainless, Titanium and Carbon Fibre, with mainly black and white knobs, but anything else could be done if required. They can be made with two notches for bow tank etc, 3 notches for gearshifter, or any combination you want as a special.
Going forward, I'm planning to get a website set up to sell these and a variety of other powerboat bits we've got in the pipeline!
Please see thread in Trading post if you want one!
Cheers, James

Most of the guys over here run the 'argon weld' pickups and seperate ball valve to a drain at the bottom of the transom. They use seperate levers for each one and need the full range of travel, having the middle notch there and not used is just annoying to me!
We've also now done an adaptor which allows the controls to be used with a standard merc cable

James, I think you would find the middle notch useful. What would you do to stop the lever from moving in conditions where you want to leave a little in the tank. So forward would be fill, rear to dump, and you can lock the lever in the centre to hold some in the tank and the lever cannot vibrate to fill or dump. Just a suggestion.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. this lever / valve ONLY fills. It can't dump, that job is done by a separate lever & valve.
So position 1 is 'don't fill' and position 2 is 'do fill'. dump doesn't come into the equation. (for this lever)

Yep admittedly I got the wrong end of the stick. However I don't understand why they are making it so complicated, heavy and expensive. It only needs one lever. I used the argon weld pickup back in 89 and only needed 1 lever what's changed ?

Horses for courses I guess. I've made a couple of pick ups that scoop and dump all in one and therefore you only need one leaver but I think most have the dump coming through the transom with the intake in a seperate intake. Getting the throw right for 2 sperate valves (ie intake and dump) on the one handle may be tricky all imvho.
Cheers
Dan

for ballast levers there is two options use the lever with 3 notches in for tank and pick up. which is the same as a gear shift!!
or use the two notch units in tandem. different people want different sets depending on what pickup they have. like Dan said the single pickup and dump only need one lever so you would use a gear style for this with 3 notches.

Sounds complicated and a pain to install these multiple levers and cables. Why not use a single fill valve lever as shown, (which operates an external pickup) and then use a bilge pump to empty the ballast tank.

Push a button or push a lever, no big difference to be fair. Each to their own. Look nice bit of kit although wouldnt bother with mirror polished for something thats out of site.
