Not sure about Unipart.

Fat Cat /Papa Kilo got enlarged by Rob Mills and is owned by a guy on here (The Force).

I think Westons Kodak /Petrel stainless steel got burned.

Fina is I believe in the middle east.

Assagai (the 4 engine one) burned to the waterline in Dubai.

Assagai (the 3 engine one) is in Dave's Garden in Romsey.

Another for cat lovers

This pitched up at the Swanage 80 in 1970.A glorified schulze circuit cat for CIII.Could have been a wind up on Alf Bullens part.It got holed and never saw it again.

did Neil ever race the 6ltr he had built as I can not recall the boat ever racing in the UK or at least having any success here, think I may have asked that question before

think I recall some years back somebody said the Assagai boat was sitting in the garden, do you think Dave is keeping it to one day re-race or just because no one has come up with a large enough some of cash to take it off his hands

Midas Racers

Some guy is cloning these reverse tumblehome Campbell/Midas hulls off ever since `All of a Quiver` went to Dubai and became `Adimsc`in 2001.In fact I think that type of craft won one of the `X` cat races recently.Maybe Lorne is stuffing his pockets with royalties,or maybe not.

I doubt it. Lorne wasn't credited with the Quiver design, John Miller was, even though it was clearly 'derived' from Lorne's drawing board.

I suspect in reality it was a marriage of Lornes previous stuff and new thinking from Midas, but Miller took all the credit.

Interesting that they're calling it a Midas, not a Miller, or more importantly a Campbell.

MIDAS tec etc cat

Has anybody seen an entry list where the builder and also the designer is stated,or are we to believe Midas has emerged in UAE building them with Miller sitting on the CAD machine designing the finer points of cat design.Sounds like another Maltese jumble to be unravalled my old Phantom Phanatic.

This is where it gets difficult, did Joe Donahue design Hooper & Ashby and Hospitality Inns?

Or did he use previous experience ?

Did Lorne draw the lines for the 3C Cat which was to become Poco Homes without looking at the Class 2 Cat Aquaglide?

As I have posted before on this forum, Stapley Snr. told me "They copy me", now we have photographs of cats going back to the '50's on the net, I found a black and white photo of a US circuit boat that looks just like a Stapley.

Cat Designers

Oh gawd!Mr.Ciao we are just about to descend into the controversy pit.Designers would never freely admit what particular boats affect their thinking, although obviously it does.Nothing wrong with that. One always uses what you consider are the favourable bits. That stapley one liner always amuses me,for heavens sake they may have been functional but boxy,oh so boxy. For me the cougar boats were, for cats ,some of the real class acts, with so many different configurations dependant on the engines fitted.Every time a new version came out you knew it was going to be something worth watching. The thing is ,you get a guy design a boat and several years later the same builder is approached to another type of hull.Does the builder go back to the original designer or does he build it based on previous drgs and owners ideas. Then comes the day they have to fill in an entry form, and that`s where the confusion starts.Beard,Campbell,Donohoo (BTW is Donahue Sarah`s brother!) or Stapley all have their ideas in their own right,it`s when, down the line, it becoming annoying that the correct credit is sometimes not given. That OPII cat Aquaglide built by Wright is credited as a owner`s design (R.Cook).So there we are ,another case of owner`s input.
