New OL SV29

This boat has been on the cards for some time having been announced over a year back

Recall reading about OL and their move into very high teck drag car bodies and how the use of the expertise gained would be moved across into the boat range and it sure looks like they have done what they said with patents filed on this new style of hull manufacturing

There was some controversy already though. It rolled and sank!

From everything I read(this is not fact) it seems the boat has/d digital indicators installed on the tabs and drive vs. mechanical ones. Either the indicators malfunctioned or were setup wrong...either way it lead to the tabs being incorrectly set for making a turn as attempted.

Anyhow, thought people would be interested in this tidbit.

Agreed this is a bad a$$ boat, as are all the boat OL builds. But I cant imagine paying that kind of money for a single engine 29 foot boat! But I guess if you have money it doesn't matter what it costs!

OAN...ive been to the factory...it was really cool!

One more comment or after thought.

I guess the fact that the boat rolled at speed(70+) and the boat was fine once cleaned up does pay tribute to the strength of the boat!

More here of inside and a vid of it running too, I like the the idear of a single Ilmore

Now if Ilmore developed a V10 Diesel and put it in this boat I would be in heaven

Yes I reckon a nice diesel for the UK would make it a great bit off kit, I would imagine it's a 29' hull so it could be canopied and compete in SVL single engine races in the US which used to be very popular over-their. Wonder how fast it would be with a pair of diesel engines similar to Cookee's in the BananaShark, but then if you start to contemplate this, then I'm sure Cookee's boat would work out a better deal and it's a bit bigger boat to boot

I think one of our hulls with a single Yanmar 370 with their twin prop drive would be bloomin awesome as a leisure boat!

Was thinking that earlier today and was looking trough your renderings from Bananashark build thread to see what on open top would look like. Nice simple weekender interior similar to the OL SV29 and if only Ilmore did a V10 diesel. Think it would be a cracking sports leisure boat. You never know, may be when finish the cougar and had my fun with it I might just come and see you.

Cookee, do you think they actually save weight with the autoclaving or not much when considering the extra build cost ?

I think they autoclaving more for strenght than saving weight.

If I would have to chose between OL 29 and Bananashark 34 I would go straight for Bananashark.
It's longer, it's narrower. Hand build for north european rough waters.
I saw it once last year and I just love that boat.

V-10 Ilmor Diesel? You can just go with Seatek if you want big single diesel
I would love to have it with twin Verado's 350 or new Mercs 565's. Not cool for your pocket but what can I say.. I love petrol engines :-)

Thanks guys

We hand layup everything and the autoclave stuff is for prepreg carbon which would not last for any length of time in this application. There are a great number of options for economical power and as I said the Yanmar 370 would be awesome for a leisure BananaShark - cheaper than you might think - we do put board versions as well!
