so if your running an old boat with a 300 merc on the back do you have to change the engine over to an evinrude e-tec or will they run merc, evinrude and honda all together ?

As far as I gather it will be a slow fade out for the old craft? 150's will still have a seperate race to the others.

Just got an update: The new boats will be in a seperate class to the older larger boats but depending on time, tides and numbers the idea is that they'll run together but scoring points in seperate bands.

The original idea is to run the new boat with two different motors for the two classes - so what's the smaller motor going to be and how fast do they think that's going to go?

All race together in the 225/300/250ho ..... P1 are saying the old 225/300 hull will retain grandfather rights to race, possibly through 2012 using the existing engines - assuming separate classes as the notion of single make racing is essential to P1 (As demonstrated in Southampton). Eventually the UK will fall in with the rest of the World fleet of regulated 'new style hulls' and engine configuration
The 150's will continue to run as another separate class and provided there is a minimum of 6 entries, this class will run as an entry class into the P1 model....... just my understanding of the current proposal.

As an aside imho - whether the new boat is great at handling, fantastic at speed or just a slow cumbersome bowl of porridge; if they are all the same spec. then the entries/investors are all equal. Similar story when the Cougar 225 was introduced and its critics remained faithful to the end? (Great looking hull and a handful to keep upright occasionally)!

Spoke to P1 yesterday and they don't have a motor for the second class as yet. They also said that "They wouldn't let existing Cougar boat owners down" - I have no idea what that means as yet - looking forward to hearing the whole story in due course!

I'm OK Artie, just incredibly busy! I've been lurking and reading a few threads on S&F, theres just not been much new or interesting in a while. And when you spend 15 hrs a day in the workshop thae last thing I want to read about is more broken boats!

BTW, been following your cat thread on here, needs lots more pictures
What you build the extra stingers from? Ply or composite?

Allen the X-tra stringers and supports were ply . Hey guy , i often feel the same way you do after working on boats all day, and the bottom line is our advise always seems to be free which ..... sometimes can get very tireing ...considering i often find myself giving the same advise to the same person ......three times over . Allen , i am glad to hear that you are so busy at the moment because we have to make hay while we can .

Allen glad to see that you stuck with ply for the transom on your build and do you ever use Chesse cloth ( finish fabric ) to hide the seams in your layup .... in the areas that can be seen by the human eye . Allen just curious do you use a bedding compound like DBF under the liner that adheres to the top of the tunnel to give you a better bond between the two which will give you more structural integrity along with your bonding the liner to the hull ?

I would only ever use ply in any transom, I'm not convinced with composite transom materials. About the best looks to be coosa, but I've heard things about that too.
Yeah, we use an adhesive under the cockpit liner on the tunnel top, then bond the liner to the hull and bulk heads.

The way we lay the glass there aren't any visible seams, the liner covers 90% of the area, behind the rear seat is the only semi visible area.
