New (Used) Boat on the Horizon

Well,

Ive only gone and got me lip hooked on a replacement boat for "Sexy Beast" the old Formula 242.

I must be a Salesman's Dream but i just cant bare the thought of not having a boat (even if i cant use it), its driving me crackers.

Im currently arranging a Marine Survey, so we'll see what happens then.

Got the t-shirt for that Turnip. Took a week to get the money to the surveyor in Germany. Day later the boat was gone. He was quite reasonable though 360 euro for a 29 footer. Now I have to get the money back off him!

Will the sellers not accept a refundable deposit to hold the boat while you get it surveyed?

Matt,

I have been in constant communication with the seller and have kept him informed every step of the way. He knew i was a serious buyer though due to his time constraints he wanted me to buy it un-seen!!! He was well aware that i was happy to pay what i thought the boat was worth and that i was not trying to take advantage of his situation and that i would buy it subject to Survey and up to date photos, (which he never supplied me dispite several requests). A week ago i told him that i had located a Surveyor near to him who was out of the country this week but would call him Yesterday to arrange a convenient time.

The Surveyor informed me yesterday that he was told that the boat had sold over the weekend!!! The seller couldnt be bothered to inform me that and in fact has not even returned my e-mail today.

Well the interesting thing is that its been up for sale for ages. The owner was motivated to sell it and reduced his price to me twice during correspondence to a price that was considerably lower than the original asking price. However, the pictures provided of the boat were (i believe) of it, when the seller bought it two years ago. After its sinking episode it is now apparently minus the engine compartment cover and cushions and also the back seat cushions! No explanation was ever provided for this loss by the seller dispite my asking.

Could have been snapped up by someone in the trade looking to turn a profit. I had been informed during investigations though that this boat was not built by Revenger/Midas Marine and so may not have been fitted out to the same quality standards of Revenger products.

So, that just leaves the Revenger/Midas one from Spain that was Red but is now dark blue with a nasty cheap looking re-upholstery job and needing one engine re-build and the Revenger/Midas one in the UK in nasty colours.

I guess ill sadly go back to looking for a yank boat. Really did want a british built boat though.
