Ocke - B19 vs B22, 1.3L

Guys,

If I've understood what has been posted online correctly, the Ocke Mannerfelt B19 and B22 were both designed to be run in 1.3L classes. If so, what model would you put your money on in a head to head offshore race? The race I have in mind is 57 miles long and is probably 60% in relatively calm waters and 40% in pretty big chop...

I would go with a 23 red and silver Mercedes-Benz one without the blown 2.5 280hp and I would guess that the race is Bermuda around the island?????

Yeah, it's the Round the Island race. I never understood why D-18 was always so jumpy, but if it's a B22 then he's seriously overpowered. 22' seems like a biiig boat for A-class, but if it was designed to run 1.3L motors, then I guess it will run strong. With the same motor, what would you run in A-class: Phantom 16, 19' Ocke, or 22' Ocke? And what ever happened to the light blue P16 that last raced a few years back - I'd make an offer if I knew who the owner was. The orange one this year was just a little slow...

The Swedes brought one over in 2000 to Cowes for the 1.3 Europeans...it didnt do that well.

was 'Large It' a B19 or a B22?

Large It won alot in the 1.3 class in the UK

For me an A class would be a 16 or 19 Phantom or even the B or FB Class. FB111 Phantom ran well but lost steering with 15 miles to go, FB16 Sharpe ran well but split the side, last year she almost took line honours. The Ocke 22 had ballast tank problems, that is why you see the co-pilot on side, they thought there was a hole in the boat. For me the 23 is best it runs well with the 2.5 280 efi, unless you melt a piston. Love to see your pics.

the bat 23 for 1,3L are often built light and not as strong as bat 19, this bat 23 goes 63 knots with 3B specs.

A few pics from 2009 race. South shore note the B19 and B23 new powerhead needed. Look at the phantom 19 and 21 how they ride so nice in choppy/rough water.

The reason it was looking slow was because the fuel connector to the engine wasnt the right fit so it kept on coming loose.

So not enough fuel+ not enough rpms=not enough speed.

I find it quite amazing the speeds they get from these boats with a relatively small engine compared to the monsters we have to bolt on to reach the same speeds. They must be ultra light and have such an efficient hull design, or its all in the wings?
