Cat in Guernsey

Quote:
Back to cats, there are a lot of overfalls round here and they can make life hell. Many times i've tried to get to sark and it's just been hell. Turned round and thought bugger this i need a bigger boat. Always the front that slams as i come off these peaked endless waves. Am curious to know how a cat would fare?
If you just want to go to sark you do not need a cat you need a RIB we go to sark in all weathers an have never turned back, have not made it back some times but never turned back

Soppy Topwith never raced thru the Needles.................................
Miss Enfield 2 went thru but was driven by Dave Kennet from Yarmouth who later became a much decorated Lifeboat Cowswain..................

Yes, well done, it's certainly a toughie.
Oh well, you'll be able to spell it correctly as often as you like on the Round Britain forum from now on, won't you.

Well as you want it for pretty much all types of weather for Sark & beyond It's gotta be a 28'+ Mono with twin motors of your choice

They go very well. A closed cockpit boat is a lot faster than an open cockpit one so pleasure boats are not going that fast. Also Loan Shark changed from the 2.5's to the 300xs engines. These are a lot more reliable and fuel efficent than the race 2.5's

110 mph with the 300xs's

Johhny, I feel we should have the story from you first hand, so to speak.

What happened, what boat, what did he say? Will you ever forgive him? Did it knock any sense into him?

Was it that the cat drivers knew when to retire, before it went wrong?

seems very odd to me.

no it was the monos trying to catch the cats that made the vee hulls turn over in the rough !
