Offshore Circuit Racing 2011

Following a members forum last weekend it is looking as though OCRDA are going to trial the earlier proposal of revamping our classes.

The basic structure (although pending some refinements) will be as follows.

1,2 & 3 litre inboard or outboard with inboards upto twice capacity.
Race type and forced induction engines will go up to next class ie 2ltr race engine would be in 3 ltr class.
upto 2 ltr will run on a short course with over 2ltr running on a larger course around the outside,(as we are do now with 3c, V24 etc.)

We are happy to trial this in Salcombe 11th September if anyone wants to come and race (please check your eligibility first) Unfortunately only upto 2 ltr race on the Sunday.

In theory if it floats it can race !!

Any questions to chairman@ocrda.org

Bob

Are these classes up to the cc? As in up to 1 litre, up to 2 litre and up to 3 litre? And does this put 1.3 and 1.8 in the same class?

After some discussion with Bob we have decided to adopt a very similar set of rules for the Irish offshore series. These rules certainly open the scope a hell of a lot and hopefully will see numbers increase fairly quickly.
Since I first spoke to Bob about this a few months ago we have managed to get about 12 boats between 2 & 3 litre and with thundercats and zapcats runing in 1 litre should see a healthy start line.

So with both series with the same rules hopefully we will see some of you guys over here for a race or two and I know most of our guys would love to join you guys over there if you would have us!

The same question with ribs has come up here and we're certainly going to allow it, for the first season anyway and see how it fairs out. My only concern is jockey seats!
It certainly should be interesting, we have a very broad spectrum of boats entered in the 3L class.

Got family staying from Canada so it's a bit awkward - it's bad enough they'll be watching powerboat racing all weekend! Kitten may be around depending on when you're coming/going?
