One diesel one petrol one boat

This may seem an outrageous question but I'm new to this inboard lark and just trying to get my head around it:

could you have in a boat one diesel inboard and one petrol inboard side by side running off the two seperate internal fuel tanks?

I have recently put into drivers a cigarette squadron 39' and I'm looking to get rid of the outboard bracket and go inboard.

I dont want to go amazingly fast or spend vast amounts of money. Ideally looking for a robust package with low maintenance which could give me 45knots min. any suggestions comrades?

Yes, outrageous is the first thing that comes to mind, .....no, hang on, the first thing that comes to mind is, why on earth would this idea even cross a normal persons mind.

Don't be daft!

Maybe if you explained the logic behind the question? What do you hope to achieve?

Yes it can be done.
It would be very stupid to do so.

About 100 reasons. The engines have mismatched power output and rev ranges, so it would handle like a pig. it would create alternate drag as the speed changed. You could run one at a time, but then the drag of one inop leg would remove all benefit and you would prolly not get onto the plane. The duplication of instrumentation, duplication of partsetc which you whould not need it you had one system. It would cost about double to rig it. The engines required to get 45 knots would be about double that required if you used single fuel.

Thinking of a better way to put it.... No - Stupid idea is the only thing that comes to mind. Why on earth would you even think of something like that?

the thinking was that the petrol would sound good but the diesel be more practical so by fusing them together could maybe get the best of both worlds!

So now this is totally out of the question what is a robust package to go for which wont break the bank?

I dont think you need to get rid of the outboard bracket, just let gravity take its course!

Who on earth rigged that and why?

Expensive to run, but better 2x petrol. Small block V8 with a nice deep leg.

I think this sounds the way to go! Why a deep leg? What is the best leg to go for in this situation? Duo v single prop? There seem to be some good deals on US ebay what do you reckon?

Just wondered what packages you think I should go for as you seem to know your stuff? Is the duoprop system the way to go? is a volvo leg compatible with a mercruiser engine?
