Open offer from ICE Marine.

I've just recieved an email from Jeremy Watts at ICE Marine asking If I would post this offer on his behalf on the forum. I think it's a great idea and will be a great day out I'm sure.

I reckon Mike should come along too, plus whoever it was who decided two years ago that the Blades couldn't take part in the RB08.

I've been keen on a go in one of these for some time and Jeremy has been promising me a thrash when we're next on the water at the same time, so my name will be first on the list. (I can do either date)

His offer:

"Dear All,

It has been brought to my attention there has been, and still is, a degree of debate and conjecture about Bladerunners on this Forum, some for and some against (and I’m sure some couldn’t careless!). Whilst a healthy debate can sometimes be a good thing, I nevertheless think it would be beneficial if we were to offer, those who are interested, a ride out in one of the latest Bladerunner 35’s so that they can make up their own minds and gain some firsthand experience.

To this extent I would like to invite anyone interested for a ride out over 2 different dates, in case one suits better than the other. There will be no hard sell! and there are no obligations for those who want to, you are just welcome to come for a ride. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a local platform for some time that we are eligible to compete in to help prove our design. There is no 6 litre racing in the UK and we are not eligible for either P1 or the Round Britain Race (although hopefully in the future). The only credible 6 litre racing is still currently in the gulf but mounting any proper competitive racing campaign is difficult to afford for a company of our size, and so we have to wait for projects that are self funding such as the Round Britain Record attempt in order to participate.

For those who are interested in coming, the provisional dates are November 28th and November 30th (so you will need wrap up warm!), either from Drivers Wharf or Ocean Village in Southampton (TBC)

The fuel is on me!

With kind Regards

Jeremy"

From a hull design point of view does Lorn call the Tri a (Stabilised mono) so as to differentiate between his style of 3 pointer and say the more traditional hydroplane style of 3 pointer which I gather is the design Buzzi favoured a few years back for racing and record attempts

I reckon that's a slightly "overgenerous" offer, why not make a small charge of say £20.00 per person, and give the money raised to charity!

By my reckoning that would be £100 per trip!!!!

What’s the latest? Is this event still on?
Making it a charitable event or donating some thing towards petrol is a good idea.

Update from Ice Marine:

I would like to confirm the offer for rides on a Bladerunner on the 28th and 30th for those interested. If anyone is tied up with the Boat Show and can’t make it then give me a call and hopefully we can organise something the following week. We will operate from Ocean Village to reduce the time up and down the river and the boat will be stationed on one of the Echo berths next to the main car park. This will be a very casual affair, just turn up, hop on and go out for run. The boat I have available at the moment is one of the Bladerunner RIBS with twin Verado 300’s (sorry Jon, I know you hate RIBS! J - same hull though) however, we may have access to a new 35 (also with twin 300 Verado’s) if we are lucky.

It would be helpful if I can get an idea of numbers and perhaps schedule names of who would prefer am or pm on either day to avoid too much hanging around for everyone. I will be limiting the numbers onboard for each run to 3 plus driver to enable everyone to be seated properly in a high back race style suspension seat. There will be life jackets for those who don’t have their own and also head gear for those who would like it.

Love the idea of the charity donations and happy to go with whichever charity everyone decides, or I can suggest some we have supported in the past such as St Dunstans, Make a Wish Foundation or the Richard Burns Foundation.

Kind Regards

Jeremy
