I am going to join with the evinrude vote. Owned mine for 7 years now. Has had its moments in the past but always got me home. Just had it fully rebuild and it has always pulled like a train. Its a 32 year old 235hp v6 and i am even considering racing with it next session.

To make things clear about usage,

This motor is not being used on a pleasure boat but on a commercial boat 20 foot boat. Although usage is usage the driver responsible for the boat is a good driver, so the engine isn't going to be driven carelessly.

Is it a brand new motor that you looking at buying, if so go for the one that offers the best commercial warranty. Evinrude only carries a 1 year commercial warranty. Don't no about the others
