Perhaps Cookee and Mike Ring may start thinking about going a little FUNNY

Awesome. I'm a massive drag racing fan. The body's on the fuel funny cars are seriously technical bits of kit, designed to deform at certain speeds to alter the aerodynamics. There's some amazing hi-speed camera footage on youtube of it

The earliest ones, not so much.

The gassers and the A/FX cars were amazing! So much innovation and invention in such a short period of time. My all time favourites will always be the Fuel Altereds though, absolutely insane!

I still have a number of my drag racing magazines from the 60s. Absolutely devoured the stuff when I was a kid.
Big John Mazmanian, Stone Woods & Cook, KS Pittman 'Ohio' George Montgomery from the gasser ranks; Ronnie Sox, Dandy Dick Landy, The Ramchargers, Hubert Platt from A/FX. They were my heros.
And of course the legendary Wild Willie Borsch in the Winged Express!

Yes!!! The Winged Express is my favorite car of all time! Saw it run at the Hot Rod Reunion in Cali a couple of years ago. Properly wild lane swapping passes!! Saw the Bradford Topolino too amongst others, plus some genuine A/Fx cars and a full field of nostalgia floppers. Incredible weekend of racing, highly recommended. Hearing the old boys stories on the pa really got the spine tingling, and the nitro fumes from all the fire ups in the pits were something else!
